I'm hoping my Broncos draft Sanchez and that after a year of backing up Orton, he becomes the starter in 2010.
I think Sanchez should be available at that pick, the question is does Denver take him? I haven't seen a mock draft where they do yet but that doesn't really mean anything.
If the Broncos want Sanchez they have the firepower to get him even from someone above 12 that takes him. I think it's a natural match but then again I would never have run off Cutlet.
Looks like it is certain that Boldin is on the block now as well. Could make for an interesting pre-draft/draft day.
I'm hitting about 0.0000001% on Steeler and Rocket draft picks, so Pitt will probably do the exact opposite of whatever I say in this. But I'm hoping they finally draft an offensive or defensive lineman... any position on the line! I said last year, that I was certain they would pick an offensive or defensive lineman on the first day......... RB and then WR. Wooosh, strike. (They did grab an OT in the 4th, but no other O-line or D-line picks. I still love the Mendenhall pick though, even if it doesn't work out.) I'm all for going for best quality at the 1. The 1st round draft picks are such huge contracts, that you don't want to reach on an iffy project. Go for quality, sure. But, come on! Don't ignore your complete lack of depth on the lines. My guess for this year: 1: highest ranked CB or DL in round 1. (Will be Defense.) 2: best remaining Center. (I hope.)
You gotta think defensive line especially if anybody good falls. Hampton/Keisel/Smith are all in their 30's. Most mock drafts seem to have us taking a CB or offensive lineman but I wouldn't at all be surprised to see the Steelers trade up for: Evander Hood DT, Peria Jerry DT or Everette Brown DE. Vontae Davis seems like a logical choice at the corner. Plus, who knows where Malcolm Jenkins will fall to? If he falls into the 20's I wouldn't be surprised to see a trade-up. Alphonso Smith from Wake Forest is another logical choice too.
It'll be interesting to see how everything falls out...I can see Sanchez going early...As for the Texans, who knows...As for the Cowboys, who really f'n knows...
Looks like Buffalo traded Jason Peters to Philly for the 28th pick, a fourth rounder, and an undisclosed pick in 2010. Decent deal for both teams, I guess. In my opinion, the Bills got the better end. We'll see what happens when it's all said and done. I'm just always weary of trading multiple picks for someone that is not a franchise player...
Peters is a great left tackle who I believe has the potential to be the best in the game at his position. That is a franchise player or at least a potential, proven one which is better than a totally unproven rookie. I hate that they didn't get a top name receiver but offensive line is much more important in my opinion. Perhaps they could still pull off a 4th rounder for an Ocho Cinco (something similar to the Moss deal) or sign a veteran like Holt or Harrison for a year. We'll see what happens.
As an Eagles fan myself,I was shocked they didn't show any interest at all in Holt. He's been one of my favorite non Eagle players.I'm guessing they need to take a RB at some point, but Reid doesn't draft them early.
Holt got a nice sized contract from Jacksonville (3 years, $20 million). It is not the Eagles style to pay large sums of money to players over 30, most of the time that is who they are letting go. I know tons of people are saying the Eagles will take a RB with the 21st pick but I just don't see it. You can get good running backs in the later rounds. Westbrook, Barber, Jacobs, etc. were all second day picks. The Eagles solidified their offensive line, have a QB in place, but could use another wide receiver, running back, and tight end on offensive. If Pettigrew is still available at 21, I think that is their pick. Right now, I am more concerned about Sheldon Brown airing his displeasure of his contract and wanting to be traded. Especially after he talked so harshly about Lito Sheppard doing the same thing. He better watch out or he might end up like Lito, a bench rider while the Eagles develop another young talent like they did with Hansen.
Stafford isn't worthy of being the #1 overall pick, but the Lions will probably take him since they can't doianything right. The "QB premium" isn't worth it this time.
This off topic and I didnt wanna start a new thread, but can someone please bump "The Monday Morning Weight In" thread.
Word around these parts is that the Niners are looking at Sanchez with the 10th pick, or they could go DE.
