At first that is how I felt. But once I thought about it, Lebron has an ego so if he enters he will have something creative.
Lebron has no incentive to enter, despite last night's declaration. There's nothing he can do to satisfy the expectations, and everything has already been done. He stands nothing to gain, and quite a bit of reputation to lose if he doesn't win it.
As with the scoring of the first round of the Dunk Contest, and the "fan" voting for the ASG MVP, Lebron will be the preordained winner of the 2010 ASG Dunk Contest. No need to worry about losing a reputation when the NBA's got your back.
You forgot one thing: ego. LeBron saw all the attention and noise Dwight was making with his whole Superman Telephone Booth bit and being the attention w**** that Bron is, he wanted to steal the light. He wants to be "The Show".
Only if you like Shaq and Kobe. Fan vote MVP is even lamer than fan vote starters. Tell me how did Shaq deserve to be MVP of that game other than his dance?
JVG wanted Roy! It was the Blazers who stole Roy from the rockets. Get the fact straight and stop blaming JVG! Because Shaq completely outplayed the starting center of the West?
Stupid feud? The feud was definitely there. If there was no feud, there would have been no trade. I think that now, they realize how stupid and childish they were, and just want to put the past behind them. Read Phil Jacksons book if you want to find out what really happened during their last season. They were not fond of each other back then than they were now.
You don't get the joke- if we would have lost the Minnesota game, we would have been in position to get Roy.
Shaq was funny, (the dance in the intro, the plays he did on the game, etc) Kobe takes too seriously this game, like any other game, just taking a lot shots, to get the most points in the game, too selfish. Lebron played bad, all those three missed dunks, trying to imitate Tmac and carter, he only got it, when everybody open the lane for him, I think a lot of players, can do that without any players in the lane. (I think Tmac he could do that, right now, in a practice)
Just watched this on my DVR, so I'm late to the party, but... How in the hell can you explain a Co-MVP when it was a fan vote via text? Not that I care who gets something as trivial as an All-Star MVP trophy, but to say something is voted on by the fans only to turn around and give it to whoever benefits you the most is just irritating. Also, that dunk by LeBron at the end was nasty. The only other player I've actually seen get his head that high to the rim is James White, but he doesn't attack the rim with nearly as much force as LeBron. It looked beautiful in slow-mo.
kobe is incredibly selfish, he forces so many shots, its disgusting, relax and play around, pass the damn ball, stop taking 20 shots in an ASG.
I found my own answer...sort of... http://my.lakers.com/blogs/2009/02/15/kobe-shaq-share-all-star-mvp-honors/ At the very least, it's misleading to advertise it as a fan vote, and then have it count for just 25% of the total. Again, I don't care about the All Star MVP, but it's the violation of a principle that irks me a little.
LOL. According to this logic, whoever is the backup center behind Yao in the West will win the MVP every year.
