get a digital scale with a body fat monitor. it's about 30-50 dollars. what it does is send a pulse of extremely low voltage through your body and measures the electrical resistance. mine's pretty cool. it tells me me the bone density, h20 percentage, body fat and bmi.... oh, and weight too.
A caliper is one common way. I would venture to say some are posting estimated amounts from online body fat calculators or similar device.
starting late. 6'2" 203 this morning. unrealistic goal of being in 170s by end of year. semi realistic goal of being in the 180s. I exercise a lot. Mountain bike, snowboard, go to gym. But, i eat a lot of steaks, cheese, bacon, pizza, and drink more beer and wine than i should. I eat like a pig after long mountain bike rides for a day or so. i know i won't change my diet much, but I can ride further and push myself harder at the gym and eat a little less bacon (cringe). Maybe even mix in a pilsner instead of an IPA from time to time.
The time has come when I shall pay the price for my holiday gluttony. An excersizey price. I'm up to 200 but 6 months ago I weighed 170. Changing jobs hasn't made it easy to get into a workout routine that's for sure. I think I'll just handcuff myself to my exercise bike with my 360 and in 2 months I'll be close to where I was. Winter is so full of good dark beers. I'll miss them but its time to move on.
man my week sucked. I'm trying to find a new job since my current one is completely draining me. anyway, I made it to the gym a grand total of once, and super bowl weekend screwed my diet. +2 for the week...-5 overall. I'll get back on track this week. I broke my toe a couple months back and I think it is finally to the point where I can return to martial arts...so that should help quite a bit.
Actually went up a pound to 185. A little annoying but it's not like I've gone all out yet or anything. Been eating a little less and eating a little better(cept for the superbowl ). Just started cardio this last week and set myself on a schedule to do cardio at least three times a week. Sometime I'll start hitting the weights again too, maybe this week.
I was pretty good about my diet...worked out relatively hard in the gym 3 times this week...yet I still gained a pound. I don't get it. guess I'll be more strict on my diet...oy.
I gained 2 pounds this week to 219. Good workouts, but screwed up on the diet. I'm back on the wagon, though.
Exercised well during the week. Ate regularly but smaller portions during lunch. Went to a religious ceremony we Mexicans do to "wake up the baby [Jesus]" on Saturday night, and... ate BARBACOA, FRIJOLES RANCHEROS, RICE, drank about 3 Cokes, and ate some CAPIROTADA. Restrained myself a bit on Sunday, but THAT didn't work. Results: 165 up from 163 last week. FAIL.
