"It's tough to be a rookie and be called 'Pops'" -Only Pops played 12 games for the Mavs in the 06-07 season
not sure if I heard all of it correctly, but I remember: At the beginning of the telecast: Bill: Kevin Durant reminds me a lot of Magic Johnson. Clyde: You can't compare Durant to Magic Bill! In the first quarter while Durant is bringing the ball up: Clyde: Look at Durant bring the ball up the court like that, looking like he's Magic Johnson or something!
I think Clyde says "Welcome to the nba" every game, even to players who are not rookies Did anyone else hear Clyde say last night " Pops went up for the Gorilla Dunk" That made me laugh
Last night I thought Clyde had said "If you give up 60, then you just have to score 62" which would have been somewhat dumb. After giving it some thought, I think he actually said "If you give up 60, then you just have to score 60 too". I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on this one...
Kevin Durant was the first pick in the ENTIRE draft. It wasn't just that he was wrong, but it was also the way he said it -like the home audience didn't understand the draft process. Bill went with him, then corrected him a few seconds later. Also funny because Portland is one of his two favorite teams.
2 HUGE Clydisms from the game last night. 1. He called Joey Dorsey a physical, specimen. Which is fine, but he emphasized the word physical meaning Joey Dorsey is a specimen who is physical. Great example how English is a second language for Clyde. Completely misunderstanding idioms. 2. He said that one thing about not having Yao Ming on the floor is that the rockets just look smaller. To which bill said, "that's because they are smaller." classic.
He had the best comment of the preseason last night: Bill: I think Marion has gained some weight/muscles Clyde: No, I think it is just his new haircut.
