I've been watching all night. Fleury is a man. If Pittsburgh pulls this off, his team owes him the world or at least a Cup. Do they do a shoot out after this or is that just in the regular season? My NHL procedural knowledge is limited.
A frantic goal to send it to OT, then they fight for their lives in the first ot, then pick it up in the next 2 ots. Fleury was amazing and then Gonchar coming back for the winning power play. Awesome
I went to one hockey game when I was about 11 or 12, and don't think I've even watched one period since then. But I caught this game midway through the 3rd and watched it all the way to the end, from the edge of my seat. I could believe how fast my heart was racing during the final minute of regulation as Pittsburgh's season was withering away only to be saved at the brink. Truly amazing! So I guess I don't "get" hockey...but I definitely get PLAYOFF hockey P.S. The game I saw when I was younger just happened to be an exhibition at The Summit...Pittsburgh vs. Detroit.
I haven't watched hockey since moving here from Miami, but I think I might have to start again. It looks fantastic in HD, too!
Weird question...but did you just post this on SA? Anyway, I found myself rooting for the Penguins even though I'm not a hockey fan. But I like stuff in HD, nothing else was on, and I was hooked in the overtimes. Great stuff.
Yeah, that was me! I'm surprised anyone caught it, since the thread was moving at like a page per minute.
What a f'n game...I watched it all...Triple OT, non-stop action..Talbot scoring with just 34 secs left to send it into OT was awesome... Fleury was possessed...Amazing save after save after save...I can't wait for Wednesday...If I were a betting man, I see the Red Wings winning on Wed...
See, you can't just say that about any other sport when you're watching two teams you don't care about play. Just imagine if you were an actual fan of the game or one of those teams!! Goaltending in the playoffs is what makes it exciting. You also have to understand each team's game plan. Detroit has this philosophy that the more you control the puck, the more chances you have to score. It definitely helps having a team that can skate and handle the puck the way they do. Most teams just stick out their special team unit and dump the puck while the offensive unit rests. I'm thinking about getting season tickets next year. This is way more entertaining than watching boring basketball, which is rigged anyways
After last night they should hold a parade for Fleury alone. What he did last night was out-of-this-world incredible. Detroit was clearly the better, more aggressive and sharper team yet he was a veritable brick wall and held it together long enough for the Pens to make a run. That's borderline legendary type stuff.
Hockey REALLY benefits from HD...I caught the game last night and was actually interested in it for the first time ever on TV. Usually hockey is only interesting live...but you can actually follow the game properly now with the improved definition. What would be really cool is if they stole those super slow mo cameras from ABC's NBA coverage.
I think we get it here in Dallas and yes it makes a huge difference, but I'm assuming they do in Houston...Luckily the Finals have been on NBCHD...
HolyCrap!!! what a great last couple of minutes...the last seconds were crazy...I knew Detroit would win, but definitely was a great series... Zetterberg was great and so was osgood...It would have been hard for Fleury to play exactly like he did the other night...Crosby had to do more and didn't but I think he'll get better and be back next year...
