As a Democrat I'm glad the results were upheld, but I disagree with the above statement. In a close election, I think it's worth spending whatever it takes to make sure that the true winner is seated. And I think Coleman was within his rights (and within his responsibilities to his supporters and voters) to take it to the limit.
Al Franken should be great. I remember going to a book signing of his here in Houston a couple of years ago. I liked his TV program several years ago on MSNBC before Obermann and the gang.
Al Franken is no chump and he hates "Neo Cons" more then me.This should be really interesting in my opinion, but in a good way!
Was it not Franklin who asked for the original recount? If you recount your money the second time and it comes up different, would you not recount it for a third time?
The original recount was automatic according to state law. The subsequent "recounts" weren't really recounts so much as challenges to the way the original count was implemented.
as the years go on i think there should be a set way every state does voting and a set of rules and guidelines to follow so this doesnt happen so often. even if it takes 20 years to get to that point. if this country can afford to invade iraq (we cant) in 20 freakin 29 we should be able to be a model for a pretty major part of democracy the voting aspect and have it done right and as well as possible.
I would love for Al Franken to get in the Senate and write some witty one liners about some of the things he sees, but he will have to remain low key. the gop are trying to label him "the 60th vote"
So, caligula sent his horse to the senate, but Minnesota is just sending one of the horse's constituent parts.
No, they sent a figurative Hercules to clean out the Aegean stables, left thick with the crap of Republican rule.
ahhhh... Republicans send Franken $95K after Senate case ST. PAUL, Minn. - In the last chapter of a stinging loss to now-Sen. Al Franken, Minnesota's Republican Party has sent the Democrat almost $96,000 to cover lawsuit costs.
