Here are the rockets current salaries. The official site had more details on team and player opt. I just wanted to give u guy's an idea of what we are spending and are going to be spending. Man we are still paying for Jackie Butler, Justin Green and John Lucas jr. I think the rockets let Gerald Green go because of the increase in pay next season from 2mill to 3million. If want the color coded details here is the web site.

first, the data is not accurate. i believe sf has one more year on his contract (player option) with same salary as 2007. he already said he wants to be back with rox.

only butler has guaranteed contract in 2008. i also believe justin reed will pick up his player option. who doesn't want 1.5 mil w/o doing anything? so we have 4+ mil that doesn't bring any service for us in 2008. w/ this amount, we could have a solid role player.

but anyway, the situation in 2008 is much better than in 2007. alot of players have a team option in 2008. it means rox has more flexibilty than it had in the past.

    I've always wondered.....
How are NBA (and professional athtletes in the NFL & MLB) paid? Do they get a check after every game? Every month/two weeks? Or, all at once at the end of the season?

Tracy's contract hurts my soul. He'll be making 23 million and probably retired

Come on. McGrady's contract expires in 2010, and after that season he'll be, what, 30? His second long-term contract should be something like Vince Carter's, wherever he signs. The Rockets would be favorites to re-sign him, but of course not at 20+ million.

Vince Carter signed a 4-year 62 mill contract with New Jersey. I could see T-Mac returning for something like that, prorated for being 3 years after Carter signed his. Thankfully the NBA doesn't have inflation rates like baseball does, or T-Mac would be a left-handed starter getting 13 million a year to put up a 4.50 ERA in 180 innings.

Those 3 definately deserve more...especially Mutombo. Rockets should donate to his hospital.

So you're fine with Tmac making the 2nd most money in the NBA in a few years, even though he's depreciating like George Bush's approval rating. I'm not. End of argument.

(And I'm not talking about the stat book that I know someone is going to whip out and claim he's only been doing not well for a year, I'm talking about people that actually watch him play, yall know what I'm saying.)

This is all from a business standpoint of course. Who knows when Tracy might decide he doesn't have an injury and takes us past some NBA Elite teams.

They just gave half a mil to it. And Hayes can get bonuses based on performance. But I'm sure the emergence of Scola and Landry cut into that a bit.

They get a paycheck for each game played/on the roster unless it's a buyout. For cash on hand, they get i think its lke 500$ spending money per day or osmething. sometimes they gamble with it though lmao

Landry is a 24-year-old making nearly half a mil a year. How upset can he possibly be?

Seriously, he signed his contract before he'd proven ANYTHING, even in summer league or pre-season games. He's bound to be pretty content knowing that he's shown the organization (and the entire league) that he belongs in the NBA and is capable of being a productive starter on many teams. The problem with his NEXT contract is that we have to sign him to it before next pre-season, and at this point, we still have no idea what the limits of Landry's *upside* might be. Maybe his knee problems will prevent him from being a dependable presence. Or maybe he'll keep improving and actually be a major FORCE and a quality third option on next year's team. Who knows at this point?

Still, Landry's contract terms will likely be set by whatever other teams decide to bid for his services. As a restricted FA, we just match that and he's ours. Morey probably won't have to do any spreadsheet work at all on that contract.

Next season, Landry will get a shoe country from China to make it up for him. :p
