i was driving around all day working and listening to talk radio and i didnt hear his name mentioned once. its not an accident. he could be a real threat to the powers that be. its not there anymore, but drudge had a poll this morning asking who the winner was and paul was polling 2nd place w/ 20% of the 200k who had voted. tranny giuliani only had about 5%. and he destroyed the other candidates on all 6 questions from this msnbc poll. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18436681/from/ET/ Who stood out from the pack? * 56463 responses Ron Paul - 35% Who showed the most leadership qualities? * 55710 responses Ron Paul - 30% Who was the most convincing candidate? * 55474 responses Ron Paul - 33%

the thing with ron paul is i agree with him, and could actually stomach a vote for him. this was my feeling towards kinky and we all know how that turned out.
ABC has added Ron Paul to the poll and he is whipping a$$! Ron Paul is also winning the MSNBC poll. Yet of course the mainstream media ignores him. He has my vote, of course Ron Paul isn't bought and paid so I doubt he'll ever win the Republican nomination. Screw what the citizens of this country might actually want.
Internet polls aren't exactly scientific. One CNN poll had some like 90% of people wanting impeachment of Bush last year sometime. Trying to use them as justification for anything is silly. When he gets a decent percentage of the vote in a scientific, gallup-type poll, he'll get media attention. Just like every other candidate, really.
i agree w/ you - it is one thing if abc news is conducting random calls (or even random email surveys to their list), but you have to take polls like this for what they are. plus, ron paul is very mobilized on the internet - he has a small, but very loyal following who do a good job of getting the word out on these issues. out of 15,000 who voted in the abc poll, paul has 13,000 - its not hard to see whats going on there. that being said, i do think that he got some people's attention that didnt previously know anything about him. i think if he had more exposure and was able to get his message out, there is no way the american people would not go for it. he's not right on everything, but he's as close as we can hope for. if you believe in the constitution and the liberties it guarantees all americans, than how can you not like the guy?
I know the polls aren't scientific, but they are a good way to force the general media not to ignore the man. If the media and most in the Republican party had their way, Ron Paul wouldn't exist.
Alan Keyes in 1996 and 2000 was widely considered to have won the early debates yet didn't get much of a bump out of it. At this stage early debates help less known candidates get introduced but in many cases voters have already made up their mind about who they are going to vote for. While the media plays a factor in this this has much more to do with how front loaded campaigns are.
Having behind us the producing masses of this nation and the world, supported by the commercial interests, the laboring interests and the toilers everywhere, we will answer their demand for a gold standard by saying to them: You shall not press down upon the brow of labor this crown of thorns, you shall not crucify mankind upon a cross of gold.
via TPM -- The saga continues! You heard Greg Sargent's story about the Iowa farm couple, Jerry and Deb VonSprecken, that Rudy Giuliani snubbed because they ended up not being as rich as his campaign thought. Now there's more. Today John McCain personally put in a call to the Deb VonSprecken to "apologize on behalf of all politicians" for Rudy's atrocious behavior. There's more -- Josh Marshall
Bloomy tops Rudy in battle of the titans Daily News poll shows overwhelming support for billionaire By KATHLEEN LUCADAMO DAILY NEWS CITY HALL BUREAU Michael Bloomberg is not only a better mayor of New York than Rudy Giuliani - he'd make a better President, too. That's the result of a Daily News poll released today that asked the voters who know best - New Yorkers - which man belongs in the White House. City voters overwhelmingly chose Mayor Mike over America's Mayor as their pick for President, 46% to 29%. "I feel in my heart Bloomberg is a better man," said Jaen Garcia, 53, of Highbridge, the Bronx. Bloomberg insists he's not running for President, even though he has dropped more than a few tantalizing clues, including traveling around the country, pushing national policy changes and reviving his Web site. If he decided to enter the race - most likely as an independent - Bloomberg and his billions could cast a huge shadow. But whether he's willing to take on GOP front-runner Giuliani remains to be seen. Giuliani enjoys a national reputation as the man who cleaned up New York and held the country together in the devastating weeks and months after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Here at home, though, it's a different story, The News' survey shows. Some 56% of voters said Bloomberg has been as the more effective mayor, and 29% picked Giuliani. An additional 10% ranked them about the same, and 5% didn't know. "I like that everything Bloomberg said he is going to do for the city, he did. There are more charter schools and I like that," said Sharran Roberts, a 30-year-old mother from Bushwick, Brooklyn. "[Giuliani] did over his wife, he did over [New Yorkers] and he is not going to do it with the country," Roberts said. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/200...oomy_tops_rudy_in_battle_of_the_titans-2.html
I think it'd be better if Giuliani had run as an independent. Then he wouldn't have to sound like a schizophrenic amnesiac when talking about abortion, or Jimmy Swaggart when talking about adultery. I guess, theoretically, a New York mayor has more intense leadership experience than a Governor of, say, Wyoming or Arkansas, but I wonder if anyone outside of New York cares about him. Doesn't strike me as a charismatic speaker or strong personality, not sure what the South or Midwest would know what to make of him.
