I posted at both forums, before you had the time to respond to the one here. Second, why did you feel the need to post that here anyway? To do what?

You got away with telling me to kill myself...

But you know what, I respect you and your defense. That, and you sound like you are 40+. I'm only 16.

Good god almighty, kid. Add about 20 years to that guess of my age and grown up. Quick.

Jesus. I've been angry at an immature kid? That is a joke.

    Impeach Bush.

My last post about this. For you my man. These photos were taken shortly after Robert Kennedy's assassination. His body was being moved, by train, from New York to Washington, where he was buried:

I am glad Obama did not go with public funds like McCain is doing, and like what Kerry did. Obama will be able to campaign in so many red states now. With the new maps, I am sure he can swing some of them blue.

He doesn't even need to campaign in sure blue states this election (New York, Cali, Illinois, Oregon, Washington, etc.).

He really is going to redraw the election map. :)

Just keep it going, Donny. You're helping a lot. I hope you never have to go through what glynch, Dubious, and I went through in 1968. No one should have to go through that again. Thanks for being so understanding.

I was six at the time. At first, I thought the President had been shot. Then I sort of figured it out. Kent State was the one where I really started to grasp the larger issues.

Kent State was surreal. You couldn't believe it was America. The assassinations stunned you, and worse, but these were college kids, gunned down by the National Guard. And it happened during a rather mild demonstration against the invasion of Cambodia. Some were just walking around the campus, having nothing to do with it. I don't know if anyone really paid for what I considered a crime. One could say they paid with the knowledge they had killed and maimed those college students. I guess that was a heavy burden for them. I hope so. Those years between early 1968 and into 1970, which started out with such hope and excitement, ended up being one of the darkest periods of our history.

Just keep it going? What is that, some kind of threat?

Horrible as that was, and as stupid as this discussion is, I still don't get where your sense of entitlement and condescending attitude comes from... especially over the past 3-4 months.

    Quite frankly, its gotten old.

But thank God you don't care.

    Peace out.

deck, i can't totally feel your pain as i was born in 1968. i understand your position, rfk's importance to his era, and agree that what guerilla said was awfully insensitive and ill-timed. however, he is just a kid, don't let him get you so worked up, be bigger than that. and, if because you have him on ignore, you didn't see the pictures he posted, have a look. they were recently reprinted in the times magazine and they are a beautiful and poetic tribute to the nation's collective sense of loss.

With all due respect, are you simply dense, suddenly? A threat? I'm trying to think of something more absurd that I've read recently, and all I can think of are the posts from this 16 year old kid with his incredibly tasteless joke, repeated not only here, but at SpursTalk. All I meant by my post was that you are continuing the "back and forth" by continuing to insult me. You keep insulting me, and I'll keep responding. I would rather let it die, so I don't have to respond in this thread.

When I found out this chump was a 16 year old kid, it became clear that he was a complete waste of my time. That he clearly is so immature that I simply shouldn't bother with him. I've repeated again (and again) that the only reason I posted in this thread is that the rest of you had made it the "election thread," despite the fact that he made a "joke" about Bobby Kennedy that was beyond the pale. My intent (repeating myself again) was to get a sincere apology from the guy and then post in the thread. After I discovered that he not only made the joke here, but made it in a Spurs forum, I called him out on it, thinking, foolishly, that those members I respected would easily see why any liberal would be upset with him, and why I was upset with him. I should have known better. When he had his "fun" originally, no one said a word. Except for rimrocker, no one has said a word here.

I find it the height of irony that so-called liberals here can ignore an incredibly insensitive "joke" about a true hero of liberal Democrats, a man murdered at the height of his political career, 11 days before the 40th anniversary of his death. I simply don't get it. I didn't get it when it first occurred and I don't get it now. Even members like mc mark have ignored it, posting like it's a meaningless inconvenience that I had the audacity to bring it up in this thread. Batman has ignored it. You didn't ignore it, but chose to insult me. I could mention others, but won't. Heck, they may not have even seen this thread or could be on vacation.

"Peace out?" Do you even know what a fight for peace means? Bobby Kennedy did. I did, over 40 years ago. You see Barack Obama as someone incredible and new on the political scene. A man who, like myself and a few others here, knew Iraq was going to be a disaster before it began. Pray that you never have to see him the way I saw Robert Kennedy the night he won California in 1968.

    Peace out? What a joke.

Thanks for responding, but I didn't know he was a kid until he said he was, yesterday, and I don't see how that excuses what he did. He never gave a sincere apology about it to the board, not that anyone seemed to notice what he did, except me. He posted it, pretty much verbatim, in a Spurs forum the same morning, so he clearly thought that "joke" was hilarious. Worked up? Be "better than that?" I'll simply continue to ignore him. Except for responding to people about this subject, I won't be posting in this thread. I certainly apologize for inconveniencing everyone. How insensitive of me.

It's the same story over and over and over and over again.

"Republicans believe that our most solemn duty is to protect the American people. Since September the 11th, 2001, we have worked day and night to stop another attack on our homeland. Here at home, we've strengthened our defenses, reformed our intelligence community, and launched a new program to monitor terrorist communications. Around the world, we have gone on the offense against the terrorists, we've advanced freedom as the great alternative to the ideology of hatred and violence. In a time of war we need a President who understands that we must defeat the enemy overseas so we do not have to face them here at home -- and that man is John McCain."

entire speech by the commander guy:

    Deckard,

My silence in this latest flap was mostly out of deference to you given that I'm trying to be less of a jerk to people that don't deserve it.

If I'd posted earlier I would have said I really didn't see the big deal. I think making fun of anyone's physical appearance is shallow, stupid and a little (if not a lot) low. But it happens all the time. My take at the time was that a gentle admonition that it was in poor taste would have been a sufficient response.

But seeing how upset you were by it, and seeing that rimrocker apparently shared your offense at the post, I figure it really is a generational thing. I know how inspirational (and inspired) RFK was. But I wasn't alive when he was killed. Maybe that's why I don't naturally get how off limits any sort of joke about him, however silly or small, might be to some people. What I do get now, thanks to your posts and rimrocker's, is that it is.

All that said, you hit that kid pretty damn hard. (Hard like I hit sometimes here on the interwebs.) It's been my experience when I do that that people are not so inclined to give exactly the sort of bowing apology you seem to have sought. They're usually inclined instead, in those cases, to get defensive. Understandably.

But this kid is 16. I'm 39 and I was truly shocked by the nature of your response to a joke about RFK's appearance. He's 16. There's no way he knew he was doing something offensive before you ripped his head off. Since then, you've kept swinging and he's offered an olive branch (by posting all those photos). If I were you, I'd think about taking it.

But I'm not you and I don't pretend to understand the nature the offense from your perspective. So I say do whatever you want. I'm only posting on this matter at all because you seemed bothered I hadn't already.
