I have said in the past how I would like to draft Rush, but the more I see him play, the more I see him defer to teammates and not want to be the man, when he could and at times really should. He'll be a very good role player, but I'm not sure he could be a great player. Though when you are looking at picks in the 20's, I'll take good role player.
We just got that player. His name is Gerald Green. We really need a backup center who can slip over to PF if necessary -- Serge Ibaka is perfect for our needs.
does look like an interesting prospect http://www.nblstats.com/players.php?playerid=11385 <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/UpJszNGHjNA"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/UpJszNGHjNA" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
I had read Jawai's scouting report on Draft Express and I was intrigued by him. He looks big, athletic and fundamentally sound on offense. The Rockets should have a look at him.
Battier - #6 in 2001 to MEM Gooden - #4 in 2002 to MEM Battier is a "winner"...Gooden went to the NBA Finals last year as a Cavs "glue" guy Battier career ppg 10.2...Gooden at 12.0 Battier career Rebs 4.7...Gooden at 7.9 Battier career FG% 45.1%...Gooden at 47.1% Battier career FT% 74.7%...Gooden at 71.8% Brilliant. Thanks for pointing that out Mr Morey. Now the only two things missing are for someone to tell us how many charges Drew Gooden has taken this season and for the Rockets to leap from the 14th pick into the Top 3 so they can entice CHI with the draft rights to Michael Beasley.
I've seen 10-12 IU games this year and I can tell you he is not ready for the NBA> He's definately going since the only reason he decommitted for Illinois to go to IU has left (Sampson). He is undersized for a 2 guard and has more turnovers than assists despite having D.J. White to pass to. He can shoot like no other. Makes threes from almost midcourt with guy in his face, but he chucks too much. The mock is dead wrong on his driving ability. He isn't a strong driver. He's very quick and uses it to go by people but never powers through people in a Wade/LeBron or even T-Mac way. He doesn't have much stength. So in summery he's too small for a true 2 guard and doesn't have the ball handling skills (atleast not showing it) to be a PG. He's a light out shooter but thats it right now. The mock now has us taking 7'3" center from UConn. Syas he runs the court is a great shot blocker but won't happen. Mock says he struggles passing and in Adelmans offense that would make us shy away from him.
Umm....no....I'm taking about Chase Budinger, white boy with 40+ vertical and a sweet stroke who plays for the University of Arizona
Tracy Mcgrady Jr and AIR GORDON AND JEFF GREEN it gives me the chills!! Then again AIR GORDON by himself is the truth. but i think miami will go for BEASLEY with the Number 1 pick, they have to draft the potentially best power forward of the last 10 years. Seeing how mayo's luck has been going i hope he doesnt get drafted by memphis, because its not fair for his career to die in memphis.
No....actually, skills-wise, the only thing Budinger has a true edge over is his shooting ability. He's almost as athletic as Green, but he lacks his handle (yes Gerald can dribble the ball, pretty well too). If Green had half the consistency of Budinger shooting the ball, or even his maturity and IQ, he would be a MUCH better player.
if he had that....if he had this...thats a lot of ifs. If yao didnt get hurt, ran a 4.2 40 and had a 40 inch vertical then he would be the best ever. Budinger is also has the nod in passing. But overall Chase is a more polished and versatile player.
1. Still recovering from injury-will drive him down in the draft. 2. Basketball pedigree- 3. Skillset and body-great body and hands, can shoot it from anywhere, NBA 3 will be no problem for him 4. Yes, he is deferring for the team thereby underrating his true value. I'm not saying he is Josh Howard. I'm saying he is Josh Howard value at the bottom of round 1. I like 3 guys down at the end of the first, Rush, Shan Foster, and then this Jawai kid. I was hoping maybe Jawai stays into the 2nd round and we could make another Landry type move for him. I think he'd be a great, young backup for Yao. He's got decent post skills. Shan Foster is averaging around 1.5 PPS. That's pretty good, even if it is NCAA level. Most of the time, those shooters like him (another Jason Kapono or Kyle Korver) wind up with a spot in the NBA when they can knock down shots so efficiently. Foster has the ability to shoot the ball flying off the screens. He is a very effective scorer. I'd be happy with any of those three guys at the end of the first round, although I would prefer either Rush or Foster to the big man. I have a little doubt on him since he is playing in Australia, not a very strong league.
Yeah but the main weakness of his is his mentality and toughness. He's not skinny or thin by any means, but at best, his body is average, although he is long and has potential to add maybe 10 lbs to his frame. Because Lord knows he needs to add some muscle because for someone as talented as he is, he has never lived up to his potential and never really dominated the college scene like everyone expected him too. Why? Well, when watching him, you have to wonder why he doesn't use his freaksih explosiveness to attack the basket some more. When he does put his mind to it, he can attack the basket and finish with the best of them (like I mentioned before, he made a sweet layup around and over both Lopez). But there are times, more often than not, you just think he might be even softer than OJ Mayo. But then again, Kevin O' Neil isn't the best offensive coach and he doesn't really know how to use Chase to his full potential-instead of just having him running screens everytime.
I'd like to see us draft any of the following: Roy Hibbert 7-2 278 c G'town sr Serge Iboka 6-10 220 pf Congo 1989 Nathan Jawai 6-10 280 pf/c Austr 1986 Ante Tomic 7-2 240 c Croatia 1987 Ryan Anderson 6-10 240 pf Cal so We need a young big to be tutored by Deke & Yao to back up Yao. Otherwise, I really like this team!!!!!!
