Well, it's not like we've been around for almost 4 decades longer than them... Wait a minute... Ok, it's not like the Marlins have won a WS or two... Wait...
my lord, what would possess you to throw that little nugget out there??? we're all trying to enjoy our evening, and you drop that crapbomb?
it just occured to me. plus, I wanted the Rays to win and I never get what I want, so I just try to piss everyone off. continue enjoying your evening. Go Rockets.
pro-Phillies. I don't really care about the Rays either way, though I do think their dominance was greatly overstated heading into this series. By the way, if you look at the radar/forecast, it's going to be a steady rain the rest of the night in Philadelphia. You have to assume, given the forecast, that the umpires intend to play through it. But if for some reason the field can't handle it, and the Phillies end up having burned Hamels... that'd be one interesting story.
1. The first 3 games were tight. The 4th game was a blowout and tonight, it's a 1-run game. I'd say the Rays showed up. They aren't playing their best ball but they aren't horrible. 2. The Rays had less rest coming into this series. That may or may not be a factor. 3. Hamels is in a zone this postseason and has pitched 2 of the 5 games, including tonight. Any team would look bad against him right now.
Here comes Balfour. Who's he gonna peg? BTW, not that it means much but the two Rays pitchers with the worst postseason ERAs are Wheeler and Miller.
I know baseball did it on purpose, but that's seriously bull****. The conditions were awful for over two innings. Conditions weren't appreciably worse. If you're going to call the game, call it. Instead, they wait until the Rays tie the game so it can be resumed in a couple of days, as opposed to ending the Series tonight had they stopped with the Phillies in front. I know it would be a messy situation to have the World Series end in a five-inning game, but they really did mess with the integrity of the game by hoping and praying the Rays would tie the game, then calling it in a heartbeat the first second they do.
I wished Upton hadn't scored that run, just to see what MLB would have done had to game not been tied. I'd be pissed if I'm a Phillies fan.
