Naw, it doesn't bother me. I wish I could get paid millions to play a game and spit sunflower seeds, tobacco, etc... all over the place while I'm at work. Yea, Upton is having a stellar postseason. I'm still pullin for them Rays. I never said it but I thought they'd win in 5.
Suffice to say Madden doesn't need to use Balfour anymore. Every team has a pitcher that chokes in the playoffs and he's the one for the Rays. Hitting an easy out like Bruntlett to start the inning was just boneheaded.
No doubt but it was only fair in a way. The Phils deserved that game. Moyer was outstanding and should have given up no more than 1 run in the 7th. Who would've thunk it? Garza has all the natural advantages in this matchup. To me, this was like watching an overmatched Brian Moehler hitting all his spots and pitching 8+ innings.
Agreed that justice was done. I wonder if the weather affected Garza and maybe some of the Rays' batters more than Moyer and the Phillies.
How the hell can umps miss a play like that RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM? If they're unable to get it right in plain sight like that, then instant replay needs to have a larger presence.
I have been a baseball umpire for eight years......................but you can't miss that one. You can't. Not on a stage this big. Umpiring is all about angles, and that my friends was a good angle. Inexcusable. Although a judgment call (which can't be reversed) a replay should be in order for that one.
I think there was pretty indisputable evidence that he touched him with the glove before he got back.... not sure how much a "judgement call" it would have been.
Not only did the glove tough the runner, it was halfway up the guy's a$$. That ump should be fired for blowing a call that's about 2 feet in front of him.
Haha, you thought I had "Almued" you didn't you, Max? Just hard these days to be on the BBS much anymore. But yea, I wanted to come on and say I was wrong about Game 4, lol. Good for the Phillies and Moyer. I figured last night's game would be a blowout as Blanton >>>> Sonnastine. Too bad that Garza didn't leave some fat pitches up against the BoSox, especially in Game 7 or we would be seeing our beloved (our being me and Max) Red Sox in the Series. Oh well, go Phillies!
I hope so. On the other hand, there is a lot of pressure on the Phillies to win tonight. If they go back to Tampa having already exhausted their trump card (Hamels), I'd say it becomes a 50/50 series. It's supposed to be really cold in Philly tonight, which should help a power pitcher like Hamels even more. Here's to Cole slamming the door at home.
