The Rockets do not "have" Jackie Butler's contract. He was waived on 10.29.2007. Because he was on a contract signed with the Spurs, the Rockets had to continue to pay Butler but no longer had any other contractual association.
He also eats into our salary space for the next season. but if the Rockets are still paying him can't we get him on our roster?
That was before he got waived by the Rockets. and no he won't get 3-4 million per season... more like 3-4 teams will be considering offering him the league minimum...
I don't know if he can be back or not and I see that we do need to pay him next year but I remember that there was a team option on him as well. Can you or anyone clarify that?
Only if they offer him a new contract. So the Rockets would be paying his existing salary + whatever new deal he got. That's too much for a scrub.
