If we want a better PG , why would Alston and Brooks be unexpendable? If anything, Bobby Jackson should be unexpendable since he's a backup PG who does his role well.
LOL yourself. Bobby Jackson is a 7M expiring contract. You're telling me no one wants Bobby Jackson, who is serviceable as a backup PG, along with our first round pick? Francis is also expiring, although he doesn't make much. But I like your idea. Let's just wait for the contracts to run out regardless of our window for a championship. It's a good thing we have a GM to sit by the phone for a year, right?
Head is not expendable, IMO, unless we get a shooter in return. This team doesn't have enough shooters. Hayes simply because he does lots of work for almost no $. If someone MUST have him in a trade, fine, but otherwise I'd elect to keep him.
Alston makes approximately half of Bjaxx's contract. Also, Alston plays well when he's challenged for minutes and when he does not and is not playing 40 minutes. Not to mention he just genuinely runs this offense well from a passing standpoint. I would like to have him around, BJaxx, on the other hand, is also good in this system but his contract when packaged with a draft pick can bring us a veteran who can play 25-30 minutes at the PG. A bit like Cassell for the Celtics.
those guys will want to get paid. and even if they want to win, they probably won't choose us anyway because last time i checked, we ain't considered a contender until we at least win a playoff series.
can we pull a stackhouse or a barry? trade tmac or bobby (which ever contract balances) with one of our young players, then they waive tmac or bobby, and we get them back. imagine... a superstar getting waived and going back to his original team.
i think we can lure jamison here. he's had the huge contract, he's been an all-star and 6th man of the year. all the personal accomplishments are taken care of. at his age, i'd bet anything he wants to sign with a contender. so why us over other contenders? we would offer him the biggest role. 3rd option. not just starter, not 6th man. because of that i'd bet he signs on the cheap (MLE) to come here. plus he'll get a shoe deal in china. we can then move one of our PF's to help in another area.
It would be good to have Brand or Jamison. Well I belive Rockets would also like to have Gilbert, and he said he would opt out. Everything can happen, we'll see.
Head is definitely expendable. Out of the guys you listed, Head is a player a teams might actually want so he is good trade bait. Not to mention that the only thing he does well is shoot. It's not hard to find a shooter that does what Luther does.
I would love to have Jamison here but we don't have room for him. Landry and Scola are our major PFs....we need to play them. Battier and Tmac are our major SF/SGs....we need to play them. Jamison is one of my favorite players but unfortunatly I don't think we have room.....but a PF/SF that stretches defense and rebounds....oh man. DD
Exactly what I was thinking. He just came off a HUGE contract and has never been one of those greedy types. He's played on a lot of bad teams and will want to finally get an NBA championship. He was a winner at Carolina and will want to finally go to a winner in the NBA.
I think Novak is also a keeper. He's too good s shooter. He is more valuable for coach RA's than for coach JVG.
