Unfortunately, Landry is probably the worst big defender we have at this point. He is very, very porous.
I bring this up only because i read a article earlier this season that they were indeed trying to trade Vince then later on Kidd's outburst caused him to get traded. I seen it on realgm.com as a front page headline. It would only make sence that the Rockets would keep T-Mac and Yao only if like Morey has stated before "looking for a 3rd scorer"? Vince is on the same level as T-Mac as being a 2nd tier SG with Redd/Allen and so on but Kobe/Wade would be 1st tier SG's But seriously the Nets were going to trade him earlier this season right before Kidd's outburst. I would think if it was in a article before it would cross their minds again. The Nets are looking to rebuild with Harris and the young guys they got. They would want expiring's, pick's, young prospects, good role players to rebuild with. I really dont think the asking price for Carter would be that much since he makes just under what Yao makes and i believe Carter to be a better option than Henrich since he is atleast proven to be better than him through the years.
BJax, Luther, Rafer, Francis, cash, and our #1 for VC, Boki, Marcus Williams, and NJ's second rounder.
I dunno man, haven't we done enough roster rehauls enough? I think our bench is pretty darn good this year - I'm loving BJax as a backup PG even though he's an expiring contract. I think we should just wait and see how we do the 2nd year around in Adelman's system with Yao healthy. I think T-Mac will start to shoot better once Yao is back.
Well I agree, T-Mac and Vince play way too much of the same game. I'd rather go for Brand or Jamison tbh.
There is no way we should want VC. The guy's contract is enormous. he is 31 and has 4 more years on his contract. Not a good option.
I think you're all focusing too much on swingmen. Stop looking for reserves, start looking for starters. Tmac/Battier/Scola/Yao are all starters and everyone can agree that Alston is not. Morey himself said that he was looking to upgrade the PG position in the offseason. Finding Alston's replacement should be priority #1.
imo, ur third best player should be boderline all star. With exception of the spurs, I don't think battier is a starter. I think shane is a 25 min off the bench swing guy. Either u have a player good enough to send him to the bench like artest, maggette or deng, or u have a guy to compliment him and do the things he can't like childress or another young player. Either way, that spot needs to be upgraded and become more dynamic. PG is another spot, but I think that guy is already on the roster. I think this is Alstons last yr with the rox. Much like Adelman knew Williams wasn't the answer, I think they can say the same. They brought guys in here to take his spot via trades and fa and to his credit, he fought and won the job, but we've seen the best of rafer. Brooks should be the guy and get a bigger backup and roll. Bench depth is also a issue. Now this could be helped by taking care of the above items. Keeping Landry is cool so that gives u depth there. Yao needs a quality backup with size that can play 15 quality mins and make a difference. The rox are probably better served playing yao 33 mins a night. A guy like Mihm wouldn't be a bad idea. The overrall talent of this team needs upgrading. This team team doesn't have enough guys that have high ceilings. I will say the guy they have do play close to their ceiling.
Yes true if not Calderon then i will take the chance on Hinrich atleast he has great defense and wont turn it over as much. He only playes 31 minutes and looks like even on a bad year can out shoot Alston and put up more assist and come up with more steals. I think Hinrich is like a Bibby type players dont shoot as well as Bibby and not that far off but makes up for it with better defense over Bibby both can play up-tempo. He can be a shut down defensive PG even if his shots dont fall but if i was to choose over Hinrich and Alston on who i wanted to take the last shot i would choose Hinrich. He is younger and has more potential if Alston is having a career year in this system i bet you Hinrich will have a better year here too.
I think keeping Alston as back up would be a wise decision. Alston is built for the regular season dont miss many games and playes well vs bottom feeder teams and could be ideal to have on the court when he is on fire shooting. The times when Alston goes into a brick fest then that would mean put in Hinrich and its not like you could go wrong with having both in the rotation. Its so easy to pin point when Alston is hot and when he is not just by the floaters. A brick floater usually means a 0-6 or 2-7 3 point day from the arch and 2-17 for the day overall. Alston would be the best back up point guard in the league and underrated as a starter even though he would be paid like the best back up point guard in the league. There would be times when Adelman like he did before run both Hinrich and Alston at the same time like he did with Jackson and Bibby from time to time that worked. Speeding up the game for easy baskets and both play solid defense and quick enough to stay in front of their man. Having Hinrich would be a upgrade even though he is having a bad year. I think last season he was on the all defensive team. Has anyone noticed that when Alston is on the same court with Scola and Landry his game picks up? This would be the perfect time to bring him in off the bench with Landry and move Scola to the center to speed it up when Yao rest because i have noticed this Alston playes really well in the fast small ball line ups. I believe that Jackson/Landry(s&t) would land Hinrich i think the Bulls would go for that or Alston/Jackson i believe they would want Landry and expiring though and Morey is high on Landry but he also indicated point guard upgrade is a must so i believe he would trade the bench players for the starter any day of the week.
Beno Udrih is a free agent and an upgrade at the PG position. No knuckleheads please..... But if we did get him we would have to get rid of Battier as he would be completely redundant..... DD
Teams can't package a sign and trade player. Also Jackson would be left as their starting PG in your proposal. Duhon is a free agent and Bull's management don't want him back.
IMO, Scola is going to be our 3rd best player and border All-Star that you are talking about. Really, we have three basic needs. 1. We need more efficient point guard production. 2. We need a taller swingman to combine with McGrady and Shane, to take both position backup minutes, that can score the ball and be an effective rotation player/spot starter when McGrady or Shane goes down. With Shane and McGrady playing 35 minutes a game, this leaves 26 minutes a game at those spots. We've been shoving Luther over there. He's about peaked out. He is simply too small to defend 2s and 3s. 3. We need to find Deke's replacement, only this time a tall, rangy player that can block some shots and can hit a jumper. Our trade assets are: BJax, Francis, Head, our draft pick, and any/all other expiring contracts. Because they are expiring contracts or in Luther's case, rookie contract for a guy that can score the ball some. If we are gonna get a serious upgrade without giving up the big 3, then these are the guys that we have to deal. I would really like a BJax/Rafer/draft pick to Chicago for Hinrich deal. Kirk has a great basketball iq, coach's son, the whole bit. He really can shoot it, this year has been an off year, he's a great FT shooter, very good assist/turnover numbers, and he is one of the 3 best point guard defenders in the game. We lose nothing and gain a lot of upside if we are willing to gamble on that contract. Kyle Lowry is a player that penetrates all the time and draws a tremendous number of fouls. He is a very efficient offensive player even though he's not a great shooter because of his ability to get in the paint and get the shooting foul and/or the layin. I am really convinced that either of these guys represents a 20% boost in scoring and offensive efficiency over Rafer. They are turning the ball over less and handling it more than Rafer does. And the thing I like if we do the Hinrich trade is Rafer is gone. We don't have to worry about going back to him. We would be turning the page. Outside of upgrading the point position through a trade, we're gonna have to get a bigger/taller scorer in the Mike Miller mold. This is why I like Lowry. I can see the potential of turning a trade for Miller and Lowry for our expirings and draft pick. Miller would be the definitive 6th man scorer. He would give us 4 big time scorers, guys that could go for 30 on any give night in Yao, McGrady, Miller, and Scola. Plus we could get the bonus with Lowry's penetration.
Watching the game last night, I kept imagining Scola playing next to Yao. If Yao hadn't been injured, just think of the chemistry they'd have going by now.
