Hibbert wasn't invited; neither were Rush, Chase Budinger (who would've done very well in the measurements and combine), CDR, etc. Only players projected in the top 15 are invited for measurements while the rest are borderline players looking to increase their stock in the pickup games.
I had the idea that Rose could be a Dywane Wade kind of player who could control an offense from either position and guard either position on defense. In other words, he could make a worthless scrub of a starting backcourt mate like Damon Jones (who is tiny, cannot handle and is a joke on defense) look good.
Roffle at the mention of Damon Jones. If there is such a thing as "the NBA b****," Damon Jones would win it hands down. Shameless clown. But yeah, I get what you mean, A3PO. I do think that Rose could be just as effective as a full-time PG. If the Bulls pick him, which they no doubt should, either Ben Gordon (if they resign him) or Larry Hughs will start at 2. With Deng (again, they should be able to keep him), Noah (yes, he's a b**** but can ball), Gooden (soft but serviceable), Tyrus Thomas and Nocioni, they can be a deadly run-and-gun team in the East. Yes, the Bulls still need a low-post scoring threat, but Beasley is not the answer.
Carl Landry is taller than Beasley......one was considered too short the other is considered tall enough. LOL... DD
Didn't Beasley play center in his one year of college, too? Or did he play something else? He was always around the basket when I happened to see him play. As a center they are both small, as a PF I would say they are both fine.
Carl Landry played as an undersized power forward his entire career while Beasley is a hybrid forward (although more of a mid range SF). So basically he will be a 6-9 (w/ shoes) small forward/power forward in the pros. So there is a difference
Well, one of them does have some guard skills. That should help him cause mismatches with bigger players.
brook lopez definitely hurt his stock, as well as kevin love. donte green might actually fall into late first round now. beasley took a hit as well, but will probably still be considered the second best player in the draft. gordon probably got the biggest lift to his stock from these results.
Landry measured 6'8 without shoes How is he an undersized PF??? Where does this crap come from? In shoes he measured 6'9. But yet he gets listed as 6'7 on the different NBA sites.... Al Horford (who everyone talks about as a 6'10 FC) measure exactly 1 inch taller than Landry /end rant
Fastest Lane Agility: Sonny Weems*- 10.58 seconds Looking at Brooks and Landry's physical numbers is pretty interesting: Brooks measured 5'10 1/2 without shoes 5'113/4 with shoes 6'4 wingspan 32.5 no step vert 39.5 max step 6 bench presses 10.57 lane agility (best) 3.2 sprint Landry was 6'73/4 without 6'8 3/4 with shoes 6'11 wingspan (not great) 31.5 no step 36.5 max step 21 bench presses (best) 11.35 lane agility 3.25 sprint Brooks had the highest lane agility, and Landry the most bench presses - both players rate really high on the agility and athletic side of things! More and more(y) I get impressed by these selections: 2 guys who aren't athletically incapable of playing NBA, and Brooks has a great stroke and ability to get into the lane; Landry is a full size PF, a genuine rebounder and finisher around the hoop.
6'1 in shoes... He has a great wing span and reach. He has enough physical attributes to play pg and perhaps a few minutes at sg in certain situations. I think Lester has the skills and tools, but I'm not sure he has the ball IQ to sub at pg (maybe). I'm still not satisfied with Brooks as backup pg on account of his so-so offense and lack of defense - though he can run the offense respectably.
Joe Alexander was 6' 7.25" without shoes 6' 8.25" with shoes 6' 11.5" wingspan 32.5 no step 38.5 max step 24 bench presses (2nd best, stronger than Landry) 11.33 lane agility 2.99 sprint (2nd best, faster than Brooks)
No doubt the guy is a physical beast! But can he shoot the ball? I think Brooks must've slipped or missed the start in his sprint or something.. 3.2 is quite slow considering his lane agility score!
[correct me if I'm wrong] but I believe it's a series of sprints within the confines of the lane? Basically a lot of start/ stop stuff?
I think the physical knock on Landry was his short standing reach (8' 6.5"). Compare that to other players of similar height: Joe Alexander: 8' 10" Michael Beasley: 8' 11" Julian Wright: 9' 0" Al Horford: 8' 11" Landry depended on his improved hops to compensate. That's why his balky knee bothers me.
Beaseley measured at 6'8.25" in shoes. He will measure 6'9", if he puts on 2 inch heels. That's probably against the rules.
