I like the optimism. Don't let the 3 stars get you down.

I will settle for Donatas Motiejunas or John Wall If it comes to it.

Agreed either one of those guys have a higher ceiling than another late round Newley, Novak, Leunen, or Dorsey.

McGrady became 30 this year, but injuries have taken a toll on this guy, ugh ...with that said I don't think Joe Johnson deserves a max contract next off season, or anything like that, truth be told i rather have Kevin martin, both have similar game styles...if the rockets were in a position to either sign Bosh or Joe Johnson....its a no brainer....go with Bosh.

lucky for us it has been longer than 10 yrs since the 1997 nba draft... :D

but i do think San Antonio's ability to built around him is what led to his early career success.....

These 2 guys are long shot, I would settle for Cole Aldrich from Kansas.
He is a seasoned college player with tough defense and beautiful pass, prefect to play alongside Yao.

I'm sorry but NO. If we get a pick that high (lets say Top 10), you do not pick Cole Aldrich who will be a career role player, especially on our team with no true superstar that can pass a physical come playoff time.

Let the team finish the first two months of the season then asked this question again. Did the 1996-97 Spurs tank from day 1 or did they even tank at all? No team will admit to tanking

What about players like Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant just to name a couple from the same decade. The list goes on.

No because Morey is not trying to get a number 1 draft. We will be competitive and play hard. But I think this is the season where we will really see who we really are without Yao and Tmac. I am anxious to see how we are without any superstars on this team. It will be like the 60s-70s basketball where the ball movement is beautiful and it is flatout team ball. Heck, we may even be really good. Like a +50 team.

I never said anything about us tanking the season. If you think we are not gonna be in the draft lottery, you are crazy. We have a ton of heart, but with no go to scorer its gonna be a long season. I'm talking about getting lucky in the Draft. Maybe being the team with the 8th or 9th worst record, and getting lucky and receiving a top 3 pick. Then we can sign a decent free agent and see what happens.
