The Camrys have not had any recalls. Like I said, there was a problem very early on in the production process. They are working with the customers affected but there is no recall. I don't know about Avalon. I don't see any reason to stay away as they fixed the production problem early on. The chances of getting an early car with the problem are probably worse odds than those of winning the lottery. Under 200 cars were affected and those were the first off the production line. Whether there are any more problems that might occur, one never knows.
I've decided on my car specs. I'm getting the Camry '07 SE V6 in Metallic Gray with upgraded JBL 440 watt sound system/MP3/Bluetooth/8 speakers/6 disc changer with sat. radio compatibility (requires antenna and receiver(hmm...compatible? isn't the antenna and receiver all you need?)), the moonroof option (cause you can't find the JBL upgrade without an option of moonroof and/or leather seat option upgrades (damn those distributors who tack on the hard options!)), and the "Extra Mile Option Package C" (includes some extras plus security system). I'm getting the windows tinted as well. I think it comes out to approximately $25K($495 over invoice) before T,T, & L. Fun.
Yeah dude, the 07 Camry is hella nice. My uncle is considering trading in his 05 Camry to get it. Damn that 3rd pic with the black Camry makes it look so hot.
I just got one tonight....The wife will be driving it home shortly - a white XLE - loaded. We thought we had a good deal in place for an 06 Avalon demo but we got jerked around on that deal and went to another dealership. Long story, but they ended up misquoting us and we got 3,000 off sticker. I had my heart set on the Avalon but this should be a nice consolation.
I have been driving it around for the last hour and I am extremely impressed. I must admit white was not my first choice, but you pretty much have to take what you can get. My wife said it was a feeding frenzy up there for the Camrys. They had 7 parked in front of the building and had 3 more trucked in while she was there and there was only 2 or 3 left when she finally took off. She had to chase off 4 different perspective buyers - to let them know they were wasting their time on the white XLE. I thought I would miss my GTI but now I wonder what I ever saw in that car.
Did you get the I4 or V6 engine? I've read a lot of people b****ing about the I4 not getting it done in their view. Most of the weaker reviews I've read on the car come from people with the I4 engine. They wanted the better gas mileage but then ended up b****ing about the engine power. I have the V6 in the SE and the engine/power is awesome. If you got it loaded, then you must have the navigation system on the upgraded JBL. The JBL upgrade is...in a word...amazing.
The car is literally everywhere I look, I wonder if any vehicle is even close to the Camry's sales so far this model year. It's more common and has more people driving it than any car in recent memory. The streets of Houston are flooded with Camrys.
The V6, my friend. We have the upgraded JBL, and the Moon Roof, leather, but no navigation. What does a man need with a Navigation system? (plus it was an extra 2k) So maybe I should have said almost loaded. (We actually wanted the SE and were going to do after market leather and stereo but after they misquoted us on the XLE, we had to jump on it - I just have to get some after market wheels now)
Yeah we got an 07 Camry to replace the 03 that was T-Boned when some lady ran a red light. Metal Gray Metallic is the color I got. Very nice redesign, love the car, especially the AUX jack it has. I got a cable for it cheap and play my iPod through the car stereo.
i agree. adding navigation is stupid and a waste of money. if you can't get by with a $5 folding map (or mapquest), you deserve to get taken to the cleaners with a navigation system.
I agree...nav systems are for Avon ladies. However, sometimes you will find cars at the lots your looking at that do not have the exact options you want and the XLEs are the only model that really come with nav system. A lot of them out there are going to have it whether people really want it or not. I'm sure B-ball freak probably got one or two options he probably did not want or need. I got stuck with a moonroof just to get the JBL upgrade. The JBL upgrade also comes with built-in bluetooth. I'm sure there are a lot of people who wouldn't use that feature as well...but their still stuck with it. They configure these cars in ways to sell you additional options you do not need just to rip you off.
Well, like I said earlier, there was a bunch of stuff that I was not going to get but did b/c of the quote error they made - we basically got the car for less than the SE we had our eye on (well, the one we configured and were going to wait a couple days for). The Nav system is nice though and I know my wife could have used it. We just couldn't justify the cost and the XLE available didn't have it so we didn't have to worry about it. You are correct in the way they package their options - they are definitely set up to sell you a bunch of stuff you don't need.
I don't know about the Nav system alone, I agree that it's mostly a waste of money in that case. However, I myself am a big fan of the all-in-one system (TV, Nav, Radio, DVD player, backup camera), it's very convenient and is a great tool to have in your vehicle. I am not sure I could live without it
my dad has a bnw 7 series, he told me he can't live without the navigation, dvd, back up camera, and etc. he said that its more comfortable just concentrating on the road most of the time and listening to the navi, instead of looking back and forth at the road and the map.
