Because they don't want to play for Flip Saunders, if Larry Brown was still the coach they would have been to the Finals the last 2 yrs.

    What a dull finals.

What made it even worse was ABC ... why did they put Dan Patrick in the studio instead of Tirico? Patrick has aged and just does not bring excitement to the studio and pregame stuff.

How can you not like Tim Duncan? He's not only a great player but a great person. How can someone so great be so humble is beyond me.

He reminds me so much of Dream, that's why I like him...

The one thing in common in the Detroit and Spurs series is Cleveland played great defense. They have all year. I don't remember the stat, but I believe Cleveland is fourth in defensive efficiency behind the Spurs, Pistons, and Rockets. The finals was a low scoring affair because both teams center their games on defense. Same w/ the ECF. Except in the ECF Cleveland was also two shots away from SWEEPING the Pistons. The Cavs looked like the better team nearly all series, except for game 5 (not even close to a team effort).

Parker deserves all the praise he is getting, Was a brilliant series.

That begs the question, is he not the luckiest man in the world. Wins the title, Takes out the MVP and now marrying Eva.

Can't wait to see the ovation the "World Champs" get in Phoenix next season. Horry better conveniently have an injury or miss the team bus from the hotel.

Time to once again remember how I was absolutely flamed on this board for suggesting that Tony Parker was a better all around PG than Steve Francis. The attacks were especially insulting and venomous. Well, Parker continues to acquire rings and this time a MVP trophy. Time proves all things. :p

    And they blew it.

Those guys built up that team perfectly, capped off by trading Tyson Chandler for P.J. Brown's expiring contract. The wheels were in motion for them to trade Brown for either Garnett or Pau Gasol and they somehow hold on to him? Stupid, stupid, stupid. Not to mention Ben Wallace's deal is killing them.

That team could have been dominated the East for years. They blew it.

i wanted the spurs to embarrass the cavs, and they did, but watching guys like parker, bowen, and ginobili get another ring makes me vomit in my mouth a little bit.

Was that not the most boring celebration in history? I know it was on the road and all, but it didn't even seem like the Spurs were all that excited. I guess that goes with the theme of this years finals.

In the last 30+ years, that was the worst Finals I've ever seen. It was awful, ugly and incredibly anticlimactic. The usual rush I feel after the final buzzer of the last game wasn't there at all. I hope this never happens again.

The real championship series was the Spurs vs. Suns and it was won when Amare and Diaw left their brains on the bench and came on to the floor. I believe that game would have been decisive in the series but it all got thrown away. We will never know for sure.

Congrats Spurs fans. I'm a semi-Spurs fan myself but this doesn't feel good at all. The taint of the Suns series and the lack of a worthy opponent in the Finals ruined it for me. The tingle of borderline hatred I felt when the Lakers beat the Pacers a few years ago left me with a more satisfied feeling than this garbage of a playoffs.

Even the super-boring Spurs vs. Pistons was tied going into the 4th quarter of game 7! The utter surprise of Chauncey Billips laying an egg, Bruce Bowen hitting an elbow 3 pointer and the Spurs pulling out a win against a better team was ecstasy compared what I just endured.

Bleeeech!!! I'm disgusted right now. Not a good way to close out an NBA season. It might help if I vomited.

The Spurs have earned the 4 easiest titles imaginable.

Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Clevland? And this year, the only tough team they had to get past was the Suns....with a little help from Stu Jackson.

The NBA is so watered down, that you don't have any powerful five-man squads anymore. Not even Dallas. Not the Lakers. Not the Spurs have an elite starting five.

Detroit had a strong five up through 2005, and the spurs beat that team, but geez, Detroit doesn't have a single star. Billups? Wallace? And since losing Big Ben and Larry Brown they have never been the same team. If anything shows the difference a coach makes, look no further then Detroit.

Frankly, the Laker's 3 straight weren't all that impressive either. Beyond Shaq and Kobe, that team was not all that good.

Compare that to the 95' Rockets, with Horry, Elie, Cassell, Clyde, and Hakeem. That was a strong 5 all at or near their peak.

Look at the bad boy Detroit team, the '93 bulls, 80's Celtics or Laker teams. Even the Portland and Phonex teams were more complete.

The good news is actually that maybe you don't need to be strong at 5 positions anymore to win a ring. Just 3.

The Pistons played like crap. Their hallmark has always been defense. They didn't make stops when it counted. Flip Saunders has seemingly done the impossible and 'mellowed' a once feisty group. Sloan or Pops or even LB certainly would not have allowed for this complete breakdown to come to fruition. The Cavs play good defense, they played more disciplined and energetic in that series than the Pistons did, they played with a chip on their shoulders. Of course, Lebron still has to go nuts in one game and that puts them over the top.

I don't know, I guess it's similar to Dallas losing to that Miami team last year: I still think Dallas was a better team but they didn't play like it. However, Miami was a legitimate 'heavyweight', I just don't see Cleveland as that type of team. I think a number of Western Conf teams could dispose of the Cavs in 5-6 games, and guys like Reggie Miller, Grant Hill and Jon Barry have said as much over the past few weeks, and I tend to agree.
