I like Bob Schneider and think he puts on a good show, but White Stripes >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Bob Schneider.
not knowing much about him other than the big hits he has had, i was actually blown away by the show - it was the perfect capper for the day. the band he had was amazing too. i liked that he jumped around different styles, but i have musical a.d.d. i went back and started listening to him - he has some really good albums - astral weeks being my favorite.
nothing official has been announced yet. The ACL website hasn't changed, yet, either. I'm pretty bummed about it. This was the ONE that I had to see this year.
The official site now has Muse in the White Stripes schedule spot, and they have been removed from the line up.
they took the white stripes off the schedule and just moved all the sets up on that stage - muse is now headlining. that is about as weak as you can get for the sat. nite top billing. i tell you what - it is now a buyers market for tickets. in 2005 we had that hurricane hitting houston that was supposedly going to be as bad as katrina and a bunch of people didnt come - i saw people selling 3 day passes for $25! honestly, thats probably all ill be willing to pay for a saturday ticket - arcade fire is the only thing i can get excited about. dylan, wilco, common and the decemberists are all i care about sunday and im not to keen on seeing dylan. i like his last few albums, but ive heard he has lost a step live. and i dont think i need to see 2007 dylan doing tombstone blues. they really didnt have enough quality acts this year to stretch it out over 3 days. even at two days it would still be questionable.
Actually, they added Dr. Dog to the main stage at 12:30 and moved everyone else up a spot. I'm not an Arcade Fire fan so I'll be out of there early on Saturday. Edit:I might have to check out Dr. Dog. Have a kind of retro sound and are apparently touring with Wilco.
Oh yeah, unlike most of this ACL lineup. But, to each his own. His latest album, The Californian, is pretty good.
He's actually a pretty good musician and does some good things. But he's the biggest w**** in music history and Austin is getting tired of him.
I figured Austin would have gotten tired of him long ago. He is definitely the biggest w**** in Austin music history, no question.
breaking news: apparently there's a fire "engulfing" the porta potties right now... at least according to a text message from a friend.
Stubbs is a cool place to see a show. I caught Matisyahou back in 05 there when I was still living in the austin area. If you austin people are into blues music you should catch the eric tessmer band. very good show! They play in houston from time to time too.
i was just talking to my friend. she thought something was going on to she wasnt sure. ill have to ask her.
