well, they have been really popular since their first album a couple of years ago. they are one of my favorite bands...however...each album took about 3 or 4 listens for me to start enjoying them they are amazing live as well
hey, life's too short to try and like something that you are "supposed" to even though it just doesn't work for you personally. i agree with blakekoen2 though. it may be an acquired taste.
The Roots, The Killers, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder I'll be there for sure, any word on The Boss? He was rumored to be in the lineup as well.
I'm getting kind of tired of the Decemberists. They need to go away for awhile, "absence makes the heart grow fonder" type of thing...
yeah, they put out an album almost every year and a lot of it sounds the same. still love them, though
Interesting....I was talking ACL headliners with a buddy just 2 days ago and I half-jokingly stated that Neil Young would be a good choice. Could it happen?
well for one thing as far as the "rumored list" goes closer to the bottom it lists the Eli Young Band. Thats a smaller Texas Country band that my good friend does sound for and i know for sure that the band is going. So there has to be some truth to that list. And if there is count me in. MUCH MUCH MUCH better then last year
Stevie Wonder probably hasn't played Texas in 30 years. Who knows the last time he was here? That would be something.
I had heard the White Stripes would be there. I also heard the Beastie Boys would be there promoting their new instrumental jamband album that comes out next month.

that's what i'm thinking.... that lineup is damn near unreal. but if that 69 + vedder, wonder, and neil young comment is accurate....

I'm lookin' for Dylan to do a couple of nights at Verizon Wireless right before or after he headlines ACL.
Anybody who wants to see an up and coming artist, check out Amy LaVere. Her second album was produced by Jim Dickinson (his sons are a part of the North Mississippi Allstars). She and Dickinson play together a lot in Memphis. Her music is Retro Hillbilly in the vain of Dwight Yoakam and Maria Mckee from Lone Justice fame.Anybody who saw Walk the Line will remember her as a young Wanda Jackson.
