2006 Western Conference Semifinals - Spurs vs. Mavs

im seriously sick...

The only thing im hoping for now is that the mavs dont win it all.

The Mavs will win it all: speed, shooting, defense, and Avery Johnson are a hard combination to beat. They were clearly better than the Spurs and the Spurs were better than everybody else. Keep the title in Texas!

 

I don't see Dallas winning it all if the Pistons make it out of the East. I think Detroit can match the Mavs speed on the perimiter without having to go small (The Wallaces and Prince can all move). Whoever is playing the 3 or 4 for the Mavs will have to guard someone in the post.

 

The only reason to I have ever had to cheer for the Spurs in my entire life, and they screw me.

I was at Champs in Las Colinas and I was pretty much the only spurs fan...

After the Mavs won, they played "we are the champions"...What a bunch of idiots... I was like, are you kidding me...Its the freakin' semifinals...

I have a feeling the Mavs will beat the Suns and I'll have to deal with these Dallas idiots...

 

Having the "pleasure" to live with a Mavs fan, I cannot disagree more. Dirk "Roasted duck with the mango salsa" Nowitzki is right behind Kobe in the clutch player pecking order. The guy is virtually automatic with the turn-around jumper from 12-15 feet. He proved time and time again this season that he deserves the ball in his hands down the stretch by winning more games in the 4th quarter than I care to remember.

I hate Dirk and hope the Mavs get run out of the gym by the Suns.

 

Manu next to Duncan is the key reason the Spers have 3 rings and why they even had a chance versus to advance this year. I can't stand the Spurs but respect Manu as player, particularly now that he isn't doing as much ridiculous flopping--still too much, but not as bad as last year.

Finley and Manu and Duncan played clutch for the most part all series, they just ran out of gas against a younger and more athletic team. The Spers showed more heart in this loss honestly than any other series I have seen them in, win or lose. 1st time they have not pulled an El Foldo once they got behind in a playoff series--remember when they would fall behind the Lakers, they have always been French panzies unless they were front runners.

I agree, calm down people even if you hate the Mavs. If the Pistons can get by Wade and Shaq they will be strong favorites. If Wade and Shaq can penetrate Detroits defense what do you think they will do to Dallas's weaker interior defense?

The Det-Miami winner will be favorites in the finals. Dallas could lose to Phx anyway, Dallas has to an about face in what they were trying to do to the Spers to maximize their chance to dispose of Phx (slow down). Last year they tried to run and gun with Phx and got slaughtered. Phx isn't as good w/o Amare, but they still are the best jump shooting team in the league and you don't want to reduce the game to whether you versus them hit open shots, Dallas guards and swingmen are going to have to play with a lot more maturity than they have shown.

Dirk is definetly a clutch player--the best of the big men in the league right now. Not overall as good as Duncan, but I'd rather have the ball in his hands with the game on the line than Duncan.

on a more serious note, damon jones getting hit in the head and josh howard getting hit in the balls while both are celebrating on the bench are playoff classics!
