I can see Cuban bulldozing through his players like an fat man bulldozes kids at an ice cream truck just to hold the trophy first.

I wanna cry a river and drown the Orcs, erghhh.... the Mavs.

Hopefully the injury epidemic of the Rockets gets all the way through I-45 and reach Dallas.

    Keeping my fingers crossed.

Don't they present the trophy to the owner first anyway?

The Mavs are the better team of the two though. I disagree with Steve Kerr in calling Dirk Nowitzki one of the most clutch players in the league (I think that's ridiculous), but tonight he was. I'm sure the number of calls he gets from here on out will be exponentially higher given this performance and the Mavs, as a team, will get the benefit of the doubt on most occasions.

It's the kind of win that propels a team. I think they're a shoo-in for the NBA Finals, and likely will win it ... depending on how the officials let a team like the Pistons defend them.

What I think is extra disappointing for me is that the Rockets were virtually every bit as good last year as the Mavs. The Rockets had the chemistry, the stars, the shooters -- they could go inside or outside, beat you in a shootout or a defensive contest. What they lacked, that Dallas had and has even more now, is depth.

While Dallas kept the core and improved, the Rockets took several steps back by losing older players and trading a strong third-scorer in Mike James. That trade just looks worse and worse by the day.

Considering the status of our roster around Yao and T-Mac, and that neither of the two have yet to win a playoff series, I'd say we are not any kind of serious contender in the West for atleast a year, probably two -- and that's if CD/Morey knock a few out of the park.

Yeah, i think it will depend on how it's called. So far, Detroit is still playing pretty physically. I wonder if Terry jumping into the chest of Ben Wallace gets consistently called. Should be interesting to see Big Ben guard Dirk as well. If it becomes a defensive slugfest, do the Pistons have enough firepower to win? Chauncey is their dynamic scorer, but has kind of been cold.

 The Mav is definitly a better team, they're just TOO deep, even their bench are better than are starting lineup....

The SPURS had their chance, however, they blow it.

Anyway, I can't see any teams that can beat the MAV, the Pistons will probably the only one, however, seeing how they playing CAV, I think they blow it too.

    Please tell me NO...................

    MAV NBA CHAMP??? NO......................

Clutch, IF Tracy and Yao are healthy next season, we get a very good rotation player (by the end of the season) in the draft AND we use the MLE effectively to get a decent starter, we are contenders next year. All we need is a 3rd wheel and some decent filler. Our two superstars can carry us into contention with just a little help, but several things must all break our way.

I join you in predicting the Mavs will win it all. The Pistons aren't the Pistons any more and the Mavs will abuse the Clippers/Suns winner if they bring their "A" game. Only injury will stop the Mavs IMO.

The thing about Detroit is that any of their 4 starters (Sheed', Rip, Chauncey, Prince) can go off on any given night. If one of them starts shooting lights out, all the rest have to do is grab rebounds, play strong D, and make any open looks they get.

I think we are second round bound next season guaranteed if we are injury free. But i think with the right moves we could be really dangerous.

I truly believe the Rafer trade only looks bad because of the injuries, and i am willing to give him a shot with a healthy team. I really like our chances next season, i'm optimistic, with the right moves and a at least the #8 pick, we'll be right there.

That being said, i think this is Dallas's best chance for a ring. If they can't take it out this season i think they will have missed out. I'm expecting a top 4 of Spurs,Mavs,Rox,Suns.

The new playoff seeding structure will hopefully help us. If we have a good season, the highest we could end up is likely 5th seed. 4th seed will probably be the worst of the division winners (like the Nuggets this year), and we could possibly have homecourt over them. If that happens, I like our chances. If we get below 5th seed, it will be very tough.

Has the new format been decided yet? It will be interesting to see what's done.

I think its best to just give the division winners a guaranteed playoff spot and seed them according to their record. Giving them a high seed yet no homecourt advantage seems a bit pointless to me.

We need to get off to a good start, it's killed us the last two seasons. I would also like to see more attention to shooting drills as well. Hopefully the players are taking it upon themselves to improve upon these things.

Yes it has. The division winners will only be guaranteed a top 4 seed instead of top 3. This avoids what happened with the Mavs/Spurs and keeps some distinction for division champions.

On the contrary, I really don't know if the Pistons have enough firepower to keep up with Dallas. Pray that Detroit beats Miami - the Heat wouldn't win a single game against Dallas.

Detroit has looked weak thus far - but they're still Detroit. That will be a very entertaining finals.

For some reason, I really don't see the Mavericks as quite that dominant. I don't see them straight sweeping either team from the East, at this point. But I guess it's possible. I do agree though - the Pistons would be a far tougher fight.

Great post. Consider this - a guy as oft-maligned as Keith Van Horn, who usually barely gets off the bench for the Mavs, would be FAR AND AWAY the 3rd best player on the Rockets. That is just scary. When Josh Howard fouled out, I thought, "who will they come in with....oh wait, they have freaking Devin Harris and Marquis Daniels waiting." Two more guys that would FAR AND AWAY be our 3rd best player.

The Rockets have a long way to go to catch up.
