    Who cares..

    Mario's making probowls..

Demeco himself is more valuable of a player then VY and Bush.. I'd honestly rather have Owen Daniels then either of them..

Texans Won the 2006 draft.. All day.. I can't believe this still comes up..

^Not to the poster, but with the rest of the nfl and nfl fans, is it really debatable?

We got 3 probowlers out of that draft...

I don't think vy or bush have made one, if so it'd be vy his rookie year.

Don't forget, Colt McCoy is the real deal too.

Back in the day, I wanted the texans drafted Vince Young, because David Carr sucks, and the only game I saw of VY was the NCAA championship, so I thought he could really help the texans.

But now, Im so glad that they drafted Mario Williams, and got Schaub the next year.

Oh, please don't remind me of the 2006 draft again. When I think of that draft, I don't even bother with the Mario/VY/Bush comparisons. All I see is this.

    1. Texans - Zero playoff appearances. One winning season
    2. Saints - one Super Bowl plus one conference championship appearance
    3. Titans - One 13-3 season and winning the division
    4. Jets - 2 playoff appearances including one conference championship appearance
    5. Packers - 2 playoff appearances

As the saying goes, won the battle but lost the war.

Why did the war end after 4 years?

    this is dumb..

your statement is irrelevant to the topic...

AND, Reggie and Vince didn't have huge roles in those accomplishments..
the jets drafted d'brickshaw, whom many jets fans say is a bust.. (but snagged mangold later) and Aj hawk is always in and out of the starting lineup..

think a little before you post

You obviously missed my point. My point is that it doesn't really matter how well you picked one player, no matter how much hype there was regarding it.

In the end, you win in the NFL by building a TEAM. TEAM is what matters. TEAM wins games. The Texans picked the right player, but they didn't build the best team. In fact, they built the worst team among the 5 worst teams in the NFL in 2006.

At least, that's how I think. If you feel this line of thinking is stupid, then so be it.

But how does is that relevant to the poster..

Even if that was the argument..

what about San fransisco and oakland?

WE WERE THE FIRST PICK=WE WERE THE WORST TEAM

Would the saints be where they are now if they didn't pick up brees?
Would the jets be where they are if they didnt sign Ryan?

the topic is drafting.. and who you would rather have.. not who has played for the best team.

I wanted Bush, really wanted Bush. Looking back we made the right pick.

I'd just like to see every single one of those ESPN analysts who blasted the Texans that day for passing up Bush get on the air and say that they were completely wrong on that day.

The curse of passing Vince lives on.....

Texans made a wrong business decision and a wrong football decision.

I did want Vince at the time because David Carr was the quarterback. It sickened me that they stuck with him when he was clearly a POS. QB was the biggest need on the team at the time. At the time we had no idea they were gonna go get Schaub the following year. If the Schaub trade had never happened, we might be questioning the pick more. As great as Mario is, without a QB like Schaub, the team would not be sniffing the playoffs.

06 was a crazy good draft class for us.

    Mario, DeMeco, Daniels, Winston, DA.

I believe Pollard was in that draft class too.

And what exactly has Mario Williams done? He hasn't exactly set the woods on fire. Potential and about 5 bucks will get you a cup of coffee at your local Starbucks.

Is Mario not a top 5 DE in the NFL?

Well he's averaging just shy of 10 sacks a season! Thats pretty damn good with not much help on the line since 2006!

I will admit my assessment is a bit prejudiced, but given his speed, strength, size, and athleticism it seems like he should be dominating. It is like his motor is missing a cylinder. I just expected more. Maybe it is just me, but on the majority of plays he just seems to be a non-factor. Oh well, I am just disappointed with the Texans in general. I wished they all played like Cushing, Ryan, and Pollard.

A top 5 DE in the league is generally considered to be dominant. I never understood people's gripe about him. Good against the run and pass, averages almost 10 sacks/game for his career, plays through injuries, model citizen.

I think the only valid knocks on him are his tendency to be injured and his lack of leadership, which you cant really blame him for. It just isn't his personality, which is fine, because we have people on our D who have already taken on the leadership role.

Too many people associate on the field antics with passion for the game. Mario quietly does his business much like AJ does, but for some reason people view AJ as a workhorse while Mario is unmotivated.

majority of plays he's also doubled. I really don't know what/how your watching games. You may be disgruntled but dont take it out on one of the better players in the league at his position. That's just silly.
