ummm....seems like a good time for a "pwned" but ultimately a bit redundant given that story. Best of luck in all seriousness.

LOL - not to mention a shot at the best 2 players in the draft.

Bush and Young, and they chose a guy from a medium sized school who had a mediocre college career.

All because of numbers....wow.......didn't they get the numbers that Vince and Reggie put up?

And I will gladly watch the train wreck as a casual fan, if they drafted Vince they would have had me back like the Oilers did....and I still can name Earl's rushing yardage off the top of my head.

I was as die hard as they come,......and rooted for the Titans after they left....now I could care less, and enjoy my fall sundays with my kids...but Vince in Houston would have brought me back....oh well....at least I didn't get arrested over it.....now that would be dumb !!

    Mariownage strikes again.

I laugh at you poor bastards because I KNOW WITHOUT A DOUBT Michael Huff will save the Raiders from a decade of ****-upance.

Agreed. If LenDale was such a question mark, why was he such an integral part of the storied USC offense? If VY has so many "weaknesses", why is it no one could stop him? The fact is, you can't quantify "winner". There's no stat line for heart. Both those guys have it. Are they a sure thing? Of course not: no one is. But I think the Titans made two VERY savvy choices, and they'll be strong for years because of it.

It chaps my hide, too, because Bud Adams will be the one reaping the rewards. Damn him!

As you should, just saying what a lot of old Oiler fans are saying.

I hope the Texans treat you all well.

I certainly see where they are going and admire their belief that they are doing the right thing.

Clearly they feel defense is a priority, and that the offense will be better with Kubiak at the controls, and I think they are probably right.

I will follow them with a cursory interest, but now that I don't live in Houston, it will never be the same.......oh well......good luck Texans !!

Also, IMHO, the Titans dared to be great, where the Texans played a numbers game, I think the Titans did a better job.......The Titans took 2 proven winners, the Texans...well they drafted a fast DL.....shocking.

I like the two picks the Titans had, but they are no knock against the Texans picks. The Texans have had a VERY GOOD draft so far, even if they didn't take the pick "they should have."

As far as the "heart" thing goes, and this is no knock to Lendale of VY, as I believe they will both be pretty good...Well, VY will be great, LenDale will be, at best, comparable to a Stephen Davis, but there's an old saying that goes something like this:

Heart wins games in high school and college football, but it just won't cut it in the NFL.

That's not a knock to either of these two guys. In fact, it's a compliment - meaning that they have more than just "heart."

Yes, but it is players that have both skill AND heart that excel in the game. Tons of players have skills and never develop.

Heart players with skills = superstars.....Walter Payton etc..etc..etc....

Skill players with little heart = bust.......(insert recent Cowboy draft pick of choice here).

Well, I missed the entire third round and just got back home. 2 O-linemen in the 3rd round, including Eric Winston! Woo-freaking-hoo! I'm feeling much better now. Address the secondary on day 2, and I'll be ecstatic.

I have to admit it's funny to watch Fatty go off, so sure he's right when he's wrong. It's what happens at midnight on draft day when you're plastered drunk. But he sounds so certain ... so I can only think of two things here:

    1) He is thinking of the Oilers passing on Jim Kelly (#14) or Dan Marino (#27) rather than Elway (#1).

    2) He's confused since the Oilers started out close to the top pick -- Houston actually had the #2 pick to start this draft. They traded it (Eric Dickerson) to the Rams for the #3 pick and two fourth-round choices. They then traded down to #9 with the Seahawks I think.

You can't read it without paying ... but here's an old NY Times article from 1983.

Ko Simpson would look great as the first pick tomorrow.

I believe rezdawg already said the same thing, too. :)

Im nervous that we are going to trade down...if we do, however, there is still a chance that we can get someone good. But, I'd love to stay put and take Ko, that would be F'in sweet.

Can it, moe. All these newly turned Titan/Cowboy fans around here don't give a rats ass about the Raiders.

    ;)

(Huff was a great pick though, I hate to say. Of course you know that secondary needed help. I was desperately hoping they would say 'screw the defense' and go with Leinart.)

What? I'm still right! Elway said he would play here, if we were able to draft him... We weren't so we got Matthews (a "notorious" Nashville guy)

Let this be a lesson to you all (or, as we call it in Texas, "Y'all") don't mess with Fatty....

You will eventually get some mess on you...,

By the way... I'm older... and therefore, wiser.

Let me clue you all into a secret: Fatty is always right.

Papers... Visuals... Anything... All smoke and mirrors.

    Always look to Fatty.

Consider me the "Mark Berman" of knowledge pertaining to you...

if you pretend the texans had the second pick and not the first, than it makes things a lot easier to handle. i was hyped up for reggie but if mario williams turns into everything the team thinks he will be, he'll probably end up the more valuable player.

Fatty's 1983 hallucination brings up another angle why the Texans may have done the right thing in picking Williams over Bush. In 1983 the Oilers could have drafted Eric Dickerson, a Texan and one of the best running backs prospects ever. Instead, they did the right thing in trading back and grabbing Matthews. I'll promise you this- Reggie Bush will never be as good in the NFL as Dickerson was. No way. Despite this, Dickerson never led the Rams anywhere and bounced around with a few teams and left after 11 years without making a Super Bowl appearence (and became the worst sideline reporter ever).

Bruce Matthews was a much more valuable player for a whole lot longer. You don't win in the NFL if you don't have the hosses up front. I'm glad the Texans finally figured this out. I'll tell you this: the Texans will be a whole lot better than the Titans next year. Vince Young is a three year project. I actually think he will eventually be well worth the selection, but I don't see it happening overnight. Lendale White, on the other hand, is going to be a huge bust. He is closer to Bam Morris than Jerome Bettis. Fat, lazy, injured and failing drug tests before his first paycheck? Sounds like a winner. With all of the weapons that USC had I could have busted off five yards a carry the last few years. The league is littered with the discarded husks of badass college players who weren't disciplined enough to adjust to life at the adult table. See: Lawrence Phillips. I look forward to the new Texans D putting Young and White on their asses for years to come.

Funny how no Reggie Bush fans are now talking about becoming NO fans. Just don't come back when the Texans start winning!

It really sucks to be Reggie Bush right now. First he gets his ass handed to him by V young in Rose bowl, then the court problems. Then he thought all the problems will be solved when he becomes the first overall pick. Not happened. He will lose about 4-5 millions in guaranteed contract. If thats not enough, he has to go and play in NO which is still trying to recover from Katrina. He won't have that big of fan base in NO because there arent any fans. Well lets all hope he has a good carrer. :p
