When he can finish off the Suns after being up 3-1 and show up in a season-deciding Game 7, then he can worry about that...
I was just sitting with my lil cousin watching the finals while on vacation in the ATL. I made sure he was aware that he was watching something special: Here's the next MJ. The elusive messiah of the NBA - Dwyane Wade. INCREDIBLE! He promptly agreed and went to bed (Eastern time - Late) I can't help but feel that next year it's T-Mac's turn next season!
And Dallas, the city, the people, the sports teams, the whole ambience - still reeks of arrogant assholes. Duck Fallas.
BTW, for those who're interested... That covered 'bowl' was nothing more than cards of the fifteen players and their families (apparently thousands and thousands of them)...Riley said that it was to pound home the point of "15 strong"...I have to say, great coaches have a way about making statements without doing a lot of talking, that's why Pat and Phil and those guys are truly great coaches; they're great motivators.
If he had Wade he wouldn't have to carry the entire load throughout a 7 game series. It is really simple, actually.
"The Mavs aren't the Champions my friends... And we'll keep on laughing till the end... The Mavs aren't the Champions... The Mavs aren't the Champions... Mark Cuban's crying, cause they aren't the Champions... F*** Dallaaaaaaaaaaas."
Man, you missed it. I love Avery but he let the thing slip away. The superior squad fell short because they couldn't put it together. Avery has to accept responsibility for it. They demonstrated their dominance the first 2 full games & 42 minutes of game 3, but they couldn't get their chemistry back. Like I said in another thread, Avery is the only guy on the Mavs I feel sorry for. Well, maybe Del Harris too.
Haha yeah I was wondering the same thing. So much for LIVE. Anyways, I will admit I wanted the mavs to win. But whatever.
Except for when he thought the team he made sucked and handed them over to SVG to ride out the bad times, then realized that they were pretty f-n good and yanked the rug out in time to pirate a ring.
Random thoughts on the Finals. 1 Wade Wade Wade. I've been on the bandwagon since late in his rookie season and through the '04 playoffs. There isn't anything "upcoming" about him. He's a superstar player right now. In his 3rd year, he carried his team on his back to an NBA title. What a player. 2 Like most of us on the forum, I picked the Heat to win the series. My reasoning was while the Mavs were more talented, they had played disjointed throughout the playoffs and the Heat would beat them with superior team chemistry. I was 1/2 right. Poor chemistry killed the Mavs but the Heat won because they had the best player in the series by a mile, plus they got just enough key contributions from others. During this series, Shaq was barely more than a role player. 3 Props to both the coaches. Avery had an outstanding year but he couldn't get his team to play their best ball when it counted. I hate admitting it but Riles is totally vindicated in my eyes. The fact he brought home the trophy takes him off the hook for turning their roster upside down and then dumping SVG mid-season. Based on his tenure with the Lakers, Knicks, prior stint with the Heat and offcourt stuff I've heard about him, he still has the biggest ego in the NBA by far, IMO. But he delivered the goods to Miami fans and that is all that counts. 4 Wade's improvement during his first 3 years plus this championship puts him on a very high pedestal. Those of you who don't want to give him his due, suit yourself. Denying his greatness is foolhardy. I couldn't care less that he doesn't have a 3pt shot or that he can't finish with his left hand like Tracy. 5 It really pains me the refs are being talked about so much.
I feel bad for SVG and wish the Heat would have at least mentioned him after winning it but the players weren't responding to him. I don't think they would have won the title with him. Riley commends so much more respect and is a master motivator and x's and o's guy. Just look at the adjustments he made throughout the playoffs. Everyone counted the Heat out all season long and they overcame the odds every single time.
