If there was ever an underserving champion, these Dallas Mavericks would be it (IF they win). When they win they act arrogant and cocky. When they lose they whine like a bunch of b****es. How hard is it to be gracious in both victory and defeat?
He's in denial. What a soap opera! Dirk is jumping up and down, Howard looks like his dog died, and babbles incoherently, Avery is about to explode into little bitty pieces. Meanwhile, Shaq looks like the cat who ate the canary. I love it.
why did i know that The Cat would have no problem with the refs. i'm trying to imagine a The Cat post if he's rooting for dallas in this series.
Seriously, why hasn't this guy faced some kind of harsher punishment. It's obivous he doesn't care about the fines. And for these actions alone tonight, how can he not seriuosly face some kind of lifetime ban. JVG was threatend with one last year for a lot less. So what if he's owner, how can you storm onto the court and get in an officals face, then do the same to the freaking commisioner then publicly complain so adamantly about the officating and not face at least some kind of ban from all nba games or something. He shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the court, period. And if fining him isn't having any kind of effect, how bout taking away draft picks. And I'll add that Cuban is an idiot. You can jump into the backcourt to catch an inbounds pass at midcourt. I've seen players jump into the backcourt all the time to do that. The rule was changed so you could do that.
the two people who responded to me and JYD are completely missing what is being called a backcourt violation. it's perfectly okay to go into the backcourt on passes now, but it's not ok to jump from the frontcourt, catch the ball, and then land in the backcourt. unless there is a completely different rule for inbound plays than normal play, that is a backcourt violation. when people are being pressed, occasionally a guy will jump up to catch a ball and while catching it, go from front to backcourt. that is a violation. now i only saw it once, but i'm almost sure wade caught the ball int he air. if he caught it after he landed and established both feet in the backcourt, then it's ok, but my initial viewing said he didn't. it's not like it really matters, he's dwyane wade. short of pulling out a gun and shooting and killing all 5 mavs on the court, they weren't going to call anything on him on that last possession. and as we saw, they bailed him out. 23 isn't enough apparently. and someone said the ft disparity was b/c of fouling shaq. he got 12 ft's, which isn't crazy out of line for him. the disparity was 24, which is crazy. apparently the mavs players and coaches went crazy after the game. i guess i should've stuck around to watch more instead of playing video games b/c i guess i missed a show. while they went overboard and their antics sound very childish, they no doubt have a right to be angry. as for the timeout, i don't know what howard did, but avery obviously wanted the timeout after the second free throw. it's not like he didn't know what he was doing. did howard just misinterpret avery and go ask for a TO or was he trying to confer with avery or just trying to explain to the refs they wanted a timeout after the 2nd free throw? i guess misterpretation is the answer. we'll see if the mavs raising a fuss will get the refs on their side. the nba has a tradition of makeup games, but not usually when shaq is in a series. then they just make up for the last one with an even worse one for the other team. but the nba does love it's game 7's, so stern may pull a few tricks out for the next game. dick bavetta, come on down!
Payback is sweet! I wish it was Houston dishing it out. T-mac and Yao need to hang out with Wade and get some tips on getting to the line. He single-handedly out-Dallas the Mavericks when it came to FTs! I like Cuban's passion for his team but getting on the court and into the commish's face- that warrants a suspension. Fines obviously doesn't work so maybe if he gets shut out of his own building will get him to behave. Shaq looks very un-Shaq like. I still remember the days when he use to hang 37-15 against NJ, Philly and Indiana. Not anymore.
I am shocked to see Miami coming back from down 0-2 to take a 3-2 series lead. After all, the truth is that the Mavs are a bunch of softies. Dirk has not been the same driving towards the basketball ever since the hard foul Shaq dished out in Game 4. Mavs need to apologize to the Spurs and Suns. They would have finished Miami handily.
In this video (not very good quality), it looks like Wade's left leg lands in the backcourt before he catches the ball. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qDdzU8Dxj4 Anyway here's the rule: c. A ball being held by a player: (1) is in the frontcourt if neither the ball nor the player is touching the backcourt, (2) is in the backcourt if either the ball or player is touching the backcourt.
maybe I was seeing things, but Avery also clearly signaled for a timeout .....I saw him raise both hands above his head and make the timeout signal
I don't give a rat's ass if there were bad calls that favored Miami in this game, or if the refs hand the Heat the trophy on a silver platter in the next couple of games. The Mavs get so many ticky tack calls (specifically Dirk) and their fans are so damn annoying about how they get hosed by the refs. Sorry, but didn't Dirk just break the playoff free throw record that was previously held by Michael freaking Jordan? How does a jumpshooter do that if he's not getting calls? The Mavs are just getting some of their own medicine as far as I'm concerned. Afterall, it's not like they haven't benefited from a horribly officiated Game 5 before...
^ That photo never fails to fill me with renewed hatred of all things Mav So that, if they eventually lose to the Heat, he won't get lynched in Dallas?
Oh, the short memories. Yes, Heat, especially Wade got lots of calls. So what? Mavs got way more, throughout the whole freaking playoffs. Yes, the foul on Dirk with 1.9 seconds left was questionable; however, if it was Dirk having the ball, Harris would have been charged with fouls 2 or 3 times before that 1.9 seconds, in that possession. People probably forget those 2 blocking fouls Dirk caused on Posey and Haslem, those 2 were clearly charges. A eight-freethrow-swing, we wouldn't be talking about the last 2 free throws any more. At least Wade made an effort to drive and get a shot off, comparing to the game against the Spurs, where Dirk got bailed out with 5 seconds left, without even looking at the basket, what an irony for Mavs supporters to cry foul? Where were those Rocket fans then? The bottom line, if you enjoy bad calls benefited you so much, at least you should have the stomach to take bad calls against you. After all, the untouchable holly 7 footer jump shooter, is allowed to shoot more free throws than the best guard ever played the game - MJ, the best all-round center ever played game - Dream, and the most dominant big man - Shaq. Now, he's the one crying for lacking of respect? What a joke NBA has become?!!
What about the foul Jhoward got on Shaq, what about the out of bounds play on Wade? These are all in the last minutes. Blaming referee can go on for ever - Mav punks.
