i can't believe how high smith can get and then how long his arms are to get the ball that much higher. he seems like he's going to be a badass in a few years.

even though it wasn't good watching andersen (or is it anderson?) try 15 times, i like the unlimited attempts aspect b/c it encourages the best dunks possible instead of holding back to make sure you get the points.

    definitely a creative contest.

I don't know, I just felt that JR Smith's dunks were more difficult to execute than Amare's. That first dunk by JR was just sick!

Dunks like that are my favorite. Start from one side of the basket and finish up on the other side

now it's on to the main event. that would be cool if the west really tries that tmac/kg/dirk/duncan/yao lineup for a few minutes just to do it. how often do you have 3 guys as tall as tmac, kg, and dirk who are so versatile they can try the 1, 2, and 3 positions for a few minutes all on one team. well i guess we will every all star game for about the next 7 years and already did with kobe in the west.

Heads should roll on the tNT camera crew. They freaking missed Smith's last dunk. what an unforgivable mistake.

and Magic, the dunk contest is NOT back. It would have been back if Carter, Kobe, Lebron, and Francis played in it.

if paying them is what it takes to get them back, I'm all for it. I'm just a fan and want to see the best. Plus actually paying them might make them become more imaginative in their dunks.

Josh Smith is a freaking amazing dunk machine!

unfortunately, a dunk counts the same points as a layup. ;)

    Amare's dunks were weak

The judges were grading Nash passes

Exactly. A great head assist by Nash. He is from Canada right? That's why he can also play soccer.

lebron is dominating 2 years out of high school, josh smith wins the dunk contest at 19 (even though he's also going up against other young players, he's still ridiculous). how can stern realistically argue for a 20 year age limit?

the first dunk from the kid from New Orleans(Smith) behind his back was sick...too bad he did'nt make it in his first go.

if all the guys had made most their dunks in the first try this would be a wicked dunk contest compared to the past few...

Josh Smith - Vince Carter - Kobe Bryant - Richardson

those are the guys i want to see next year...

once Josh Smith gains more power this kid will compete with Vince for the title.

Great. I'd love to see Kobe and Tracy getting in a dog fight, and Shaq secretly gives a hand to Tracy so that he comes with the upper hand.;)

Is R2K going to have highlights of this? And if LeBron was in this, would he have beaten Josh Smith?

Nope, not tonight. Dominique, Spud and Jordan would have lost tonight.

LeBron pussed out with a 'flu' excuse

he played the Rookie game fine and was in the stands dancing around

whether he wants to participate in the dunk contest is up to him but don't give an excuse just say you don't wanna do it

LeBron gets up high, above the rim but he doesn't seem to have the grace many dunkers do like VC and what we saw in Josh Smith today

I'm judging him on the few dunks I've seen him do..I'm sure whenever he does participate he will pull something out of his bags he certainly has the air time to pull stuff out

he's probably waiting for the right field of players.

i don't think the current field interests him..he prbly see's them as not much of a challenge :p

the nba gotta ensure the top name dunkers participate in the dunk contest next year..it's been crap the last few years , so can't believe they haven't done anythign to rectify it. hype it up!

Well, the dunk contest proves it even more...

...Amare isn't all that good without Nash.
