there may have been worse who didn't even try something creative and missed, but damn, 9 tosses on the first, and then couldn't even catch the damn ball on the second.

all these contests have been great tonight.

qrich hitting 9 in a row to win, that shooting contest earlier was pretty cool, nash and boykins in the skills contest, and so far a dunk contest where the guy who did the behind the back dunk isn't even advancing.

    How is that?

Josh Smith and Amares Dunks were easily better....JR Smiths were nice but not on their leve.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I really wasn't that impressed by that dunk by Amare ... especially since they botched it at first, which gave up the surprise. The hard part was done by Nash ... otherwise it was just an alleyoop with a nice twist.

Is this the 5th straight year where they're screaming, "THE DUNK CONTEST IS BACK!!!" ?

Uh, there are 4 contestants, Magic .... and one of them is "Hands" Anderson.

    Round 1:

JR Smith - Ran up jumped put the ball around his back and dunked with his other hand

Josh Smith - Did the Free throw line dunk about a foot inside the line but had monster elevation

Chris Anderson - Took 10 attempts to toss the bal from half court and dunk it 2 handed (finally)

Amare - Basically an Dominique style Pump

    Round 2

Jr Smith - Anderson bounce pass and did a slight 180 and dunked it

ANderson - Tried 6 times and still sucked

Josh Smith - Jumped over kenyon Martin sitting down and Martin passed him the ball

Amare - bounced the ball off the backboard, Nash did a soccer header back to amare for an alley oop dunk.

I wasn't impressed by Stoudemire at all... Nash made that look good, other than that just a regular reverse alley oop dunk.

some dunks are just made by being so unique. while the twist wouldn't have been spectacular the concept just elevates it. doing something new like that (blindfolds, covering eyes, etc) always plays well. you just gotta know how to pick something that's new w/o being amazingly hard. that was pretty much a perfect way to do it.

    Thanks Stack.

btw, JR Smith's around the back in the air dunk sounded pretty sick. Never seen that done before except in NBA live 2005 :p

    Just posted Round 2

    Round 4

Josh Smith - he puts on a Dominique Throwback and then did a jordan esque dunk from the baseline with great elevation and crazy power...basically back when it looked like Jordan was sideways

Amare - Just took about 3 times to go baseline do a between the leg and come up on the other side of the basket and dunk it 2 handed.

    Finals -

Josh Smith (2) - came up from the elboy and basically did the Vince carter 360 with the windmill together...but he did it from the right side instead of the left side....really great elevation and crazy...

two perfect 50's for a score of 100

Amare - Using Nash again. now he does that soccer flick with the back of his foot for an alley oop dunk....creativity is there but Nash is really the one who is doing most of the work on it.

Amazing dunks by Josh Smith you definently need to download and watch them to really expereince it and see how high he really was....

Nash should get 50's just for his soccer work.

Amare had some great creativity.....ill give him that...

Josh Smith had basically just overall good dunks with some crazy elevation.
