Personally, I don't care if T-mac or Yao win MVP in the ASG. Not that I don't hope that they do well. It's just all about the rings.
i wouldn't be suprised if pop played yao sparingly and ran amare and duncan at center and pf. on the other hand, i don't think either of the two would be better than yao at guarding shaq now that he's in the east.
Yao got 42000 internet votes from overseas according to NBA.com. If you take away all those overseas votes from Yao, he still beats Shaq in total votes he gets even Shaq counts his votes from overseas.
Why the hell aren't all these fans from China voting for Yao? We need those guys to vote just in case Yao loses popularity in the states..gotta have at least one rocket repersenting...must get those Chinese fans onto the internet to vote
I'm not sure of the exact number of internet votes but I do know that Shaq had MORE internet votes than Yao did...
I've seen both videos, and they are the only ones that I'm aware of......I may even have both of them on my computer.
I remember steve throwing the ball off the backboard, and then catching it again, and laying it up agaisnt the Grizz in Vancouver.
People still had that misconception and kept saying the reason why Yao Ming won the All Stars voting was because he got a lot of Internet voting from China. But actually starting last year, All Stars voting in China was being co-ordinated by Red Bull (a sports drink company), a strategic alliance/partner of NBA in China. Votings have to be via registration into www.redbullhoops.cn, and not directly into nba.com or china.nba.com. http://www.nanfangdaily.com.cn/southnews/dd/dsb/28/200501130567.asp And according to the above article, the voting of Yao Ming from China for this year's 2005 All Stars is 47,766 upto December 31, 2004, which surpassed the votings of the same period in 2003 for the 2004 All Stars, and the total votings for Yao Ming in the 2004 All Stars from China was slightly above 50,000 votes. So MOST of the votings are NOT from China but elsewhere.....paper vote (from USA and Canada) and Internet votings from all over the world. So people should stop to say Yao Ming won the All Stars based on Internet votings from China.
Something that was brougt up in chat the other night.... thought I would check and see what the interest level was. Is anyone planning on going into chat for the All Star events? Aren't the AS weekend events going to be broadcast overseas? Guys, check in and let us know if your listings are showing a broadcast in your country...Im assuming this will be broadcast overseas.. If not..maybe you can get Uprising and jeffster to do some pbp for ya.
true dat, but... we are talking about pop here. didn't the dude used to be some kind of ranking official in the military or something. from the looks of the guy and what other players say about him in the paper in the past kinda hint on pop being no fun, stern, mean, etc. i dunno.
Just heard that LeBRon will NOT play in the Slam Dunk Contest. Something about resting his ankle or knee. 610 said he would still play in the All-Star game. I was really looking forward to seeing LeBron out there.
I just found a nice retro track from the 89 all star game for any rap fans. The Olajuwon reference is at 6:30 into the track. You can get a copy of it here: Ultramagnetic MCs: NBA All Stars
