Hotballa, read above....what codell says is true....
A lot of the fans/media (ESPN) don't report the important differences between Yao and Amare. What do they report? Winning records and DUNKS! In no particular older.

So, Yao will get ignored and Amare will bask in the spotlight. Amare's game is in the nature of ESPN (HYPE). Now, I'm not saying that Amare doesn't have game. He does. But Yao is much more a problem for other defenders -- invididualy -- than Amare. Amare is better playing off of others (Nash) and getting missed shots for rebounds (DUNKS!). It just happens that those dunks and open shots are ***spectacular*** and their TEAM is winning. ESPN seems to give Amare more credit than he may deserve. But that's the nature of ESPN. They love hype, they love what sells. Unfair? Yes. But guess what? Yao will have his revenge later. [IMG]

I totally agreed with what codel was saying. I just thought his sentence seemed to imply that the only people hating on amare was YOFs because of the ROY thing

    I always find it funny...
The medias and those so-called analysts are the one who said Yao will dominate and change the NBA, Yao is the second best center in NBA blah blah blah....
The medias and those so-called analysts again are the one who said Yao is soft, didnt deserve to start in all-star game, Yao is the most dissapointed player blah blah blah.

If Yao himself is the one who said he is the second best center in the league then i think he deserve to be bashed but yao never said it. The medias are the one who started it all and now they are like slappin at each other faces... :(

I think a lot of what reporters say about Yao Ming is contingent upon what they said about him before he came into the league. Those who said he'd be good will report more positively on him, or without harsh, arguably undue criticism. The reporters who said that Yao Ming would be a bust use their media to put Yao Ming down, making them look somewhat correct in their statements. So, if I thought Yao Ming wasn't going to be any good, of course I'm going to say he doesn't deserve to start the ASG, because that will make me look bad. Even though most of us have forgotten which reporters thought what about Yao Ming, the reporters themselves haven't, and they'll try to prove themselves right (in their minds) however they can.
