On the positive end, all Suns players did a great job, although Amare seemed to try to force his offense a little. Duncan was solid, but I found Dirk to be a standout. Yao has actually played pretty well. Ray Allen was pretty clutch.

Stuart Scott is an extremely ethnocentric guy, and yes thats a nice term for racist. Watch how he defends black athletes but dumps on non blacks, anyone who reads his Chat Column in BSPN the Magazine, and watches his little "booya" routine (You're middle aged Stu, do something else!) knows what I'm talking about. What I most loved about Stu was him telling me that Shaq's "ching chong" comments didn't offend me as a Chinese person because Shaq wasn't a racist.

Not meaning to jump on your statement, but I think every Rock fan was getting annoyed to high heaven with the entire media world telling us how much Yao didnt deserve to be in the game and tha Amare should have been starting.

Aint got nothing to do with that. I'm just sick and tired of the media saying that Amare should be starting and Yao doesn't deserve the start. So hell yeah we as Rock fans are gonna have a field day with Amare's crapy performance.

What else is new? For the past 2 seasons, the media has been pissed that Yao started the all-star game over Shaq.

Why isn't there the same backlash against Shaq as there is against Amare?

I think the media was basing it on what the two have done this year and what their teams have done. If you base it on that, then the argument is not without merit.

Yao, hands down, deserves to start because the fans said so. And thats all that counts.

And the backlash against Amare started long before the media hyped up Amare over Yao for the starting C spot. Don't blame it on that.

If we're gonna talk about the past 2 years then we might as well mention how the media has been dogging Yao the past 2 years also, and not just based on the performances this year

I haven't read through this entire post, so forgive me for interjecting another subject, or one that's been mentioned before, but I really enjoyed watching Yao's passing, and I hope that he can get it back into his game.

Yao has probably been concentrating on other aspects of his game, and the way the offense runs, when he gets the ball, he'll put it up.

Need him to get back that passing touch. Even McGrady has been quoted as wondering where that skill has gone, which we haven't seen since JVG took over.

A lot games I watch, I saw Yao post up calling for the ball. Ball passed inside to Yao, Yao draws defenders then pass out to the wing. Then another defender rotate and try to defend the wing, then the wing make a second pass, which usually is wide open 3 pointer for the Rockets. Just being a threat inside opens up a lot of things, Yao doesn't necessarily gets the assist, but the ball movements are so much better recently. Yao and TMac creates openning for their teammates. That's the way to play basketball.

I think the difference between the players is that..

    1. the media has been dogging Yao all year and even amare feels he should be starting over Yao.

    2. amare is playing well this year but his cockiness is overwhelming, if he was more humble like Lebron / Wade I would be more happy for him.

You made a point that we was hating on Amare from 2 years ago. I countered your point that the Media's persistence of Amare over Yao was only based on this year when in fact they've never liked him.

I was surprised that Charles Barkley predicted T-Mac would win MVP b/c he was dogging him and the Rockets for a long time now.

and my point is, shouldn't you hate the media then, and not Amare?

btw ...you are kind of lumping everyone in the media together as "never liking Yao" ........thats pretty off base don't you think?

Kinda the same way you lumped everyone who is dissing Amare's performance as being YOFs who are insanely jealous of the ROY thing. I'd say we're even on that one ;)

hey - im not a YOF and, other than the highlight dunk (courtesy of Kobe) I was underwhelmed by Amare. That guy can take it to the rack with the best of him, but lets just say that when he steps out to the 8-12 ft range, no one will be confusing him with Garnett

still... the Nash dunk during the slam contest and that late game highlight from kobe were nice

... of course the west lost

Only I didn't lump everyone who is dissing Amare as being YOF's who are insanely jealous of the ROY thing.

    Nice stretch though.

Here is your original message. Forgive me if I misintepreted. New Jack made it seem like all Rox fans was hating on Amare, and your response is that it is yao's diehard fans who are doing the hating.

There's always comparison between Amare and Yao due to the whole ROY thing

we get so many threads bashing Amare (mostly started by YOFs) and what not but who the hell cares
