I remember Steve doing that once and the refs called it off saying you can't pass to your self. That pissed me off cause shortly after that game I saw some highlights of a couple of other players doing it and it counted for them.

you sure about that? i've never seen any video of him throwing if off the board to himself. i'm guessing what you think you remember wasn't steve throwing it off the backboard to himself and dunking it b/c there's no way they could call passing to yourself if it hit the backboard. they couldn't even make a mistake and make that call b/c that would be like calling a rebound on your own shot a pass to yourself.

I may be wrong about the refs' reason for calling it off but he did do it off the backboard. It may have been his rookie year but after that one time he never did it again. The only thing that he's done close to that has been where he throws it up then catches and dunks it.

Edit: Maybe he got a technical for it instead of the refs not counting the basket. I'm not sure but I'm positive Steve did it.

I remember Steve doing those self-pass dunks early in his career (1st two years). I think one of them at least was a bounce pass off the court (a much cooler Spud Webb dunk). Can't remember if he pulled out any in his first ASG. I also remember opposing coaches being irate when they saw him do those dunks.

This is probably a stupid comment, but in that poster, the bottom of Yao's feet are at least a foot of the ground. If memory serves, when he dunks like that his toes are just barely off the floor.

You made a good point, but T-Mac could win it this year while Yao could wait until next year.

Tmac or Yao could win MVP this year, but only if one of them will win it next year too!

Why ain't Damon Jones on there? He's currrently lighting it up from behind the arc in the last 8 games or so shooting close to 60%. Yesterday he was 8/10 on threes.

Why is Voshon Lenard competing hurt? Isn't he out for the whole season?

Yeah he should be in there. Him and Shaq were complaining about it earlier this week. An argument can also be made for Mobley being in the contest.

I hope someday NBA all-star would have a event called coach-game. every head coach, assis coach can play in the game. I guess these head coach will fight for the PG position badly.
tell me ur dreamed line up of west and east.

he's out for the whole season, but evidently healthy enough to compete I guess. I heard that he's been practicing for it.

Now that is what i call entertainment. I think thats a great idea.. I bet the players would really enjoy watching their coach in action.

    West:

pg: Mo Cheeks (he's got to have some fun before he's fired)

sg: JVG (sorry, the West, he got a billion votes from China, and there is nothing you can do about it)

sf: Jerry Sloan (he's one of the dirtiest player ever, and certainly in this game. Stern urged the Eastern players to wear crotch pads and mouth-protectors)

pf: Kevin McKale (he can play while scouting the coaches on the court, after the game, he can hire a guy to replace him for the Wolves)

c: PEwck (hey, he's one of the top 50 players of all time, plus he needs to have a little fun besides the strip clubs. I heard Kobe told him that the Denver girls are nasty looking...)

    East:

pg: Isaiah Thomas (Rumors are that he just locked up his luggage carrier for 6 years and $86 millions with a no-trade clause, he thinks the guy can take his game to the next level. We'll see...)

sg: Laurence Frank (sorry, the East, he was chosen unanimously by the Western coaches... to balance out their sg JVG, and there is nothing you can do about it either)

sf: Sam Mitchell (every team needs an enforcer... Well, he's more like an enforcee. If a softie like Carter could whoop his ass, put him on Sloan might be a bad idea...)

pf: Paul Silas (the negative: he might be late for the game, or he might not show up at all, depends on how his celebrity death match with Carlos Boozer 30 minutes before the game goes)

c: Lebron James (sorry, I didn't do it, David Stern ordered this, and Lebron's now the player/assistant coach for the Cavs, and thus eligible for this "Obey Your Thirst Sprite Coaches Contest")
