It very well could've been. Gaines was playing for the Bucks today and he was guarding Head.

I'm sure that I can't be the first person to make this comparison, but just from what I've been hearing about him (and watching him in college), Luther Head reminds me of Sam Cassell -- a PG who can score, clutch player, great on the break, tough, intense, hard worker, etc. I wasn't much on the pick at the time, but it looks like he might actually be a good selection. Still think Simien will be a better player, but that's a whole other thread . . .

I was a big fan of Baxter at Maryland, and I really thought he might have a better NBA career to this point. He works hard, but he's undersized. I think he has a good chance to make the roster as a 14th-man or so.

I don't know if the Rockets will hold on to Glover. If they do, I wouldn't expect to see him play much. The thing about him is that he's just an abysmal shooter. Great athelete, but an awful, awful shooter.

    Thanks for the updates!

    D.o.D,

    Thanks again.

I wonder if Badiane is getting the coaching he needs in Germany? It may be best for the Rocks to sign him now, and give him 2 years in the NBDL....and see how he develops.

I agree, he is not playing in a great league and just bring him over here and play versus better player and for better coaches.

hey newbie, that's not exactly the greatest thing you coulda said with your first post. Bowen plays harder than anyone I've ever seen and is above average on defense. remember the playoffs??

I think the Rockets could send 3 players from the 15 man roster to the D-league. They should cut one or two from Spoon, Mooch, and Baker. Sign 3 young players with potential including Malick and send them down to develop. Thats better than having baker, spoon, and mooch all on the bench.

    They probably will have to?

"The Rockets like what they see from Badiane but do not want to rush him into the NBA.

But the team has to sign Badiane in order for him to be at training camp. That means they will no longer have the option of sending him overseas.

If he is not ready, the Rockets risk hurting Badiane's confidence and setting back his progress. Or if they cut him, he becomes a free agent."

What does DoD need to do to get some 5-star thread ratings? I figured flying to Minnesota, going to every game, recapping it, taking photos and providing video would suffice. It's a small way to let people know this thread is one of the best you will find.

Thanks again DoD ...really enjoyed the recap.

    Thanks, DoD. You're the best.

I remember someone posting about Badiane's poor lateral mobility and not seeing him as able to guard NBA PFs. It's interesting to see you confirm it. I'd like to see Badiane make the roster eventually, but it seems like we really are looking at a Steven Hunter at best.

Exciting to hear about Head. Would love to see him get regular minutes and a spot on the rotation this season.

I forget about the ratings sometimes and I did just now until I saw your post. I gave the last one 5 stars and I just now gave this one 5 stars.

Never rated a thread before. This one gets five stars. Thanks for the reminder.

How did he get Malick get his points? Were they on dunks or jump shot? Can he create his own shot and can he dribble the ball? Thanks DOD.

I don't know whether you know or not, but the better coaches in teaching the basics are probably to be found outside of the USA (and definitely NOT in the NBDL).

The main problem with Malick's offense (besides that he has simply not more than below average talent in this area) probably is the european style of play and the way his team here used him on offense.

I wasn't really aware we had Baxter until the first game recap. I really do like the guy... I remember seeing a game or two with him when he was playing for the Bulls. Works hard, no major weaknesses. I wouldn't mind having him sit at the end of the bench just in case.

I also like Glover, as I've said before. We're a little thin on swingmen with bulk/size, so I would like to see him coming off our bench as well.

I'm optimistic about Head, nearly everything I've heard has been positive.

Badiane? I'm still assuming he'll never contribute much of anything... it'll be a nice bonus if he does.
