I'm obviously not his biggest fan, but man - his blood pressure must be high enough to be in a Tarantino movie. For your health, please, relax.

I'll go ahead and agree with Hightop and the whole world. Drone strikes make us look like assholes (probably because we are), and we need to stop.

So our priority in foreign relations should be beholden to the public opinion of the world? For crying out loud, at least Guantanamo had a basically global campaign to shut it down. When's the last time a regular member of the British Parliament ( aka. not that Islamist sympathizing loon Galloway) or a Frenchmen threw a giant stink about our drone program in particular?

Guess again Einstein. It's not about hating Bush because he has a "cowboy" image. It's about hating Bush because he made stupid decisions as President, such as unilaterally invading Iraq and pushing through the Medicare Prescription Drug Plan, for starters.

Excellent points all around. I wanted to add one note to this final point, and that is the nature of partisanship and the role it plays in appropriating criticality to certain issues while disregarding others.

At the time of Obama's candidacy, foreign policy issues were central to his message, not ancillary issues. He spoke frequently about international law, shutting down Guantanamo Bay, ending illegalities and holding those who had conducted them responsible.

That Obama turned his back on all of those promises (though we can say he tried on Gitmo) is bad enough. The point I'm making is that those promises ceased being important to the majority of his constituency after he was elected. They were, for all intents and purposes, political talking points with the express purpose of winning an election, nothing more.

Removing Saddam was a nice idea, but Bush botched it from start to finish.

    I agree.

    It's just like "Compassionate Conservatism".

We should start a new thread...name a President that actually made good on his campaign promises!

Well, you don't have that problem in your dictatorship. No campaigns. Just exploitation of foreign workers under a dictator. Much better, huh?

But then "the American government is at fault that there are more rapes in the Arab world".

Wanting to do something, saying you're going to do something, and being able to do something, are different things.
