Phil may come back(He should either come back or go to Cleveland). Getting rid of Shaq was not a bad thing. Getting nothing but a good player in odom, a role player in butler, and a worthless cap eating grant was the mistake. New Jersey got 3 first-rounders for Kenyon Martin, but the Lakers couldn't get better than what they got. I agree Kobe has got to trust his teammates and learn to act better, but I think Buss and Kupjeck or however u spell it made the bigger mistake. Odom is the type of player Glen Rice was, not a perennial all-star, but a good player.

I personally think Nash will get it. Here's why:

    1. Not only the best record, but no one expected it.
    2. Lead the league in a statistical category (Assists)
    3. Has been ages since a point guard has won it.
    4. Shaq has already won it, and his numbers this year are below his career best

    5. Most importantly, the difference between last year's team and this year's team on paper is Steve Nash, and that's a 30+ game improvement.

Nash is a big difference - but the team wasn't 'horrible' with basically the same peices (2 seasons ago).

I would perenially give the award to Tim Duncan. He is the guy whom you could put on absolutely any team in the league and they would instantly become a 50 win club.

Shaq used to do this - I don't think he has been at the top of his game this year.

I agree that Dirk is the most unsung hero in MVP talk - his team wins 58 games this year, and that is after losing Steve Nash - who he had formed a great combination with.

For mine it is only those three who should be considered - Ray Allen being fit has made a huge difference to Seattle, but Lewis' 20ppg is just as important (see record without either one of them).

I'd say Iverson belongs in the MVP talk. I know his team was not near as successful as the others, but he did lead his team into the playoffs putting up huge numbers(points, steals, & assists). He may be the most important player to his team in the league along with Lebron James. I don't think he should win it but he deserves a look. Duncan would get my vote had he stayed healthy.

    1. Nash
    2. Dirk
    3. AI
    4. DWade
    5. Shaq

I wish the 76er's would've won more games cause than there would be no debate. Allen Iverson's numbers this year were crazy!

If there was ever a year for it to be shared, this would be the one. Phoenix wasn't even in the playoffs last season and now possess the best record in the West. Miami was nowhere even remotely close to as good last season as they are now. Both players have elevated the play/stats of everyone around them on their team.

I wanna say Shaq could get it because he is the better player, the most unstoppable, indefensible force in the game, but Nash took the Suns from out of the playoffs to #1. That's crazy.

    Nash should get it.

    PPG 30.7
    RPG 4.00
    APG 7.9

led his team, filled with average role players and an oft injured former star to a winning record and the playoffs. Put up gaudy stats.

Allen Iverson is my MVP this season.

I agree AI has been lighting it up this season. To bad his team just isn't good enough and Webber just make the worse...
