4 get invited to NY, right? Carson Palmer, Larry Johnson, Brad Banks are my top 3.....it's a toss-up between Dorsey, Kingsbury, Chris Brown, and McGahee for the 4th spot.....I'd probalby lean towards Kingsbury though, those numbers are

I don't think Kingsbury has the national recognizance that a Dorsey does.

Having said that, I think that Johnson, Palmer, McGahee, and Dorsey get invited to NYC

now if anyone has $1600 laying around, they can pick up this Heisman Gold Signed Helmet decorated with the true signatures of 28 past trophy winners, including O.J.

I can't decide which college football thread to stick this into, so a random drawing selected this one.

Big Ten: Iowa 'assured' berth in one of four BCS bowls
    By Stewart Mandel

While the exact lineup won't be determined until after Saturday's games, BCS officials determined during their weekly conference call Tuesday that Iowa will be one of its participants.

"We have been assured that Iowa will be in the BCS system," said Big Ten Associate Commissioner Sue Lister. "We don't know which game, but that's a conference statement."

The announcement likely signals that the Orange Bowl has decided it will take the Hawkeyes as its at-large selection if Miami beats Virginia Tech on Saturday and is lost to the Fiesta Bowl, rather than Notre Dame, Kansas State or Texas.

Those teams could still be selected if UCLA beats Washington State on Saturday, sending USC to the Rose Bowl and freeing up the BCS' other at-large berth. In that event, or if Miami loses, the Rose Bowl will get to select Iowa.

Orange Bowl officials could not be reached for comment.

The decision about Iowa's status triggered a chain of events in which five other Big Ten teams were invited to bowls. They were: Penn State (Capital One), Michigan (Outback), Wisconsin (Alamo), Purdue (Sun) and Minnesota (Music City).

It also means the Big Ten's seventh bowl partner, the Motor City, will not have an eligible conference team to choose. Possible replacements include Texas A&M and Wake Forest.

If you're implying that I would be biased toward my own players, then why don't I have any of them as serious contenders for the Heisman? Nothing personal, just tired of being talked to in this manner on topics where I didn't suggest one of my own players...

So you NEVER mentioned Simms and Heisman in the same sentence? Yes or No question, cause I don't want this argument to start again.:)

    Two questions:

    1. Is today October? Mentioning a player for the Heisman in October is an entirely different scenario than mentioning him in December, genius.

    2. Is Chris Simms comparable to Nate Hybl?

    1. No, it's not October. And I don't think "mentioning" is the right word. More like proclaiming him the best QB in the nation, even after some of his not-so-great games.

    2. Did I say he was?

And who brought this thing up, anyway, "genius"?

I don't care if I said he was the best athlete in the history of sports, that was October and this is December. There's no comparison.

You brought it up. I didn't think me making a small joke about Nate Hybl (with a smilie included to let you know I was kidding) would start a debate on Chris Simms.

So making my Heisman list, without mentioning either Hybl or Simms, or anything close to those names, brought it up?

So me mentioning Nate Hybl in a small joke brought up the Chris Simms argument again?

I don't watch college that much, but I am kinda interested in the draft this year since the Bears will be picking pretty high.

Hopefully they get a QB. Is Carson Palmer the real deal?

    Who is the best QB

Yes, he's the real deal. Mel Kiper has him #1 on his "Big Board"....he's a major stud. All the physical tools, AND he has a brain:eek:

Usually the first person is the one that starts something. :p ;)

So he is the obvious #1 pick? I am thinking that Detroit, Minnesota and Houston will all pass (#2-4 in the draft order) on a QB. That leaves Cincy who are set at RB, so they probably take Carson Palmer. Who is the #2 QB then? Top 3?

    Nah, not obvious #1......
    My top 3 QB's:
    1. Carson Palmer- USC
    2. Byron Leftwhich- Marshall
    3. Eli Manning- Ole Miss

Manning's a junior though.....he may not come out.

Simms has looked impressive during the second half of the season. I witnessed him light up NU's secondary in person in Lincoln. Not to mention making Wrecking Crew look stupid last Friday.

But I agree that the #1 and #2 QBs in the nation are Byron Leftwich and Carson Palmer. Palmer is alot like Simms in that neither one put it all together until their senior year. USC was all but ready to give up on Palmer last year. He's really turned things around, and his draft stock is way up. Dave Ragone and Chris Simms will be the next two QBs taken, and neither will slip past the 2nd round with all the QB problems NFL teams are having this year.

Assuming he stays, Roy Williams has looked like Superman recently, and should become the focal point of our offense next year, until Vincent Young takes over full time.
