So you're saying that Muslims hated Jews prior to 1948?

If you have decreed that Muslims are anti-semitic, why on Earth is it irrelevant whether or not if Israeli Jews, and Jews anywhere else for that matter since this is a "religious" conflict, are anti-Islamic?

How do you explain the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem's support for the Nazi regime beginning in the late '30s?

Oh. There's a fun one. What a tool he was.

After the fall of the Ottoman Empire, the people of the region were looking to unite the Levant with Iraq under a single flag. Starting in the 1930's Hitler was the only person who could defeat both the British and French imperialists. The "Grand Mufti" al-Husseini knew if he made concessions that he could prevent the British desire to create the state of Israel in his homeland while unifing 5 countries. Hitler supported this vision if al-Husseini could rid the Jews from their rabinical homeland.

In 1917 British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour stated that the Brits had a strong desire to create a Jewish state in Palestine. That was the beginnings of Haj Muhammed Amin al-Husseini movements against Jews. In 1921 the *British* appointed him as not only Mufti but they changed the title to Grand Mufti. With al-Husseini's contraversial rise to power, he did not limit his ire to Jews. He also persecuted Arabs who opposed him. Following his alignment with the Nazis in 1936 he was exiled in Syria. al-Husseini fabricated stories of Jewish defiling of Mosques leading to the death of 133 Jews throughout Palestine. He was a vile and despicable man. He created propaganda for his cause to create a unified Arab state under his rule The Nazis gave him economic backing in return for the demise of the Jews in the area and ultimately the prevention of the possibilty of the creation of the state of Israel.

The Grand Mufti Haj Amin al-Husseini had to flee to Germany in 1941 because of his failed attempt of a Nazi backed coup over the Brits. The Jordanian monarchy was irate with al-Husseini since he officially aligned with the Nazis. Historically only the Jordanian monarchy can appoint the Mufti of Jerusalem, not the British. King Abdulallah, upset with the alignment with the Nazis and the propoganda against the Jews, gave the position to another. In response al-Husseini assasinated the King.

Al-Husseini was a dispicable tyrant who was unjustly given power by the British and ruled with an iron fist. Many Arabs opposed him and died fighting him. He had no religious authority as he was not a true Mufti. He was an extremist and he was not representative of the people in that region let alone the Arabs in other parts of the Middle East. He receives so much attention today because he was the originator of the anti-Zionist movement. al-Husseini was driven by territorial desires of unification and prevention of a loss of territory by a British mandated Jewish state. Religion is a very salient issue throught the entire process but it is not the root of the problems from Arabs.

Synagogues are still erect around the Middle East. I lived next to one in Cairo and it was never vandalized. Jews travel throughout Arab countries and other predominately Islami countries without issue. Any Muslim would tell you that Judaism is the father of Islam and that behind Muhammed the most important figures of their religion are Moses and Abraham. It is the Islamic belief that Judaism, Christianity and Islam all pray to the same God. If this is first and foremost a religious conflict, where is Turkey in all of this? Nigeria? Malaysia? Pakistan? Why do American Jews and Muslims live in relative peace? Why do Israeli Jews and Muslims live in relative peace?

Could you expand a bit on those questions so I will know exactly what to address?
