Dunno. We've got the staff to help this kid and we got the roster to hide him on the bench for a while.

If we acquire our 3rd scoring option this offseason,
    ...and he's still available.
...and we still have a roster spot.
...and we aren't over the luxery tax.

    why not.

he can block shots. that much we know. can he rebound and learn the defense? if so, he's better than any 6'6 forward we have when yao comes out.

I would love to have Patrick O'Bryant also, after getting all that done. Preferably get a 3rd star that can contribute in other ways, instead of just somebody for points. Sure, then we can get him.

He will probably sign as a FA with somebody, before we get a trade done for that 3rd star.

Ask a few Golden State fans about Patrick O'Bryant and see what they tell yall.

I am amazed at the "upside" potential that yall are willing to give up solid players for.

Guys are amazed at, and secretly jealous of, how long O'Bryant is.

But what good does all that length do when he gets soft after just a little bit of banging?

Thanks for that article. I wondered who Randolph Morris would try out for this summer since his contract is up with the Knicks. A good training staff would help the kid (O'Bryant, I mean). Makes me wonder if anyone worked with him at all out at GS.

Edit: Kirk Snyder's contract ended at the end of last year?? Wasn't he starting for the T-Wolves there at the end?

O'Bryant was drafted by Mullin and Mike Montgomery right before Monty got fired and Nelly got hired. Nelly never liked him. I guess he was like the red-headed stepchild in the Mullin/Nelson marriage.

Yep... wish Snyder the best (he was, after all, the one player who made my alma mater decent at hoops for the first time in... well... forever. Our previous star player before Snyder was 6'4'' 290 lb Faron "Meat" Hand), but I doubt he and Rockets are looking to re-unite, given that he never earned Adelman's trust to him any minutes.

sign him to the minium and have CD work with him. I liked him in college, but thought he came out way way too early. His time with Golden State means nothing, as people have rightly pointed out that Nellie can't coach big men. Very little risk, high reward, but most likely will never see meaningful time with us.

btw: what is Loren Woods doing on this team? Isn't he my age ... an a proven bust? I guess that's the sorry state of NBA centers these days. After all, we are talking about giving OBryant a shot.

But, Loren Woods is a decent distributor from the post... Woods was basically closest match to Mutombo length and shot blocking when Mutombo was out, except he can catch the ball but is much pansy'er. That was basically it.

O'Bryant's 1st 2 years per 36 minutes is about the same as Andrew Bynum's...except that, Bynum played 20 minutes a game, compared to O'Bryants 4 minutes a game...in 24 games. Well, its certainly low risk.
