That is just...Oh hell, I'm at loss for words at this ****. I just hope the Chinese people learn from this.
I am chinese and i read this, it's normal in china,we're addicted in seeing this situation among rently 100years.... I can ignore very well....... I don't know how to say to a Gentiles country. a country what the GOD dam and cursing........
It is very difficult for Americans and western Europeans to wrap their brains around this kind of thing, because the West was essentially founded upon the Judeo-Christian ideologies of placing a high value upon individual human lives, as well as a deeply-ingrained sense of the rightness of the 'Golden Rule' - treat others the way you want to be treated, and expect the same in return. In cultures, particularly long-standing cultures, such as in the middle east and the far east, and much of the African continent, such core ideologies never took root. This is at the very core, the very root cause of such vast cultural differences, wherein what one culture simply accepts as self-evident 'right and wrong' issues seem utterly alien and foreign to those in other cultures. Stories like the OP posted draw outrage here in places like America, but draw shrugs or worse from other cultures. It is particularly disturbing then to observe what seems to be a determined effort to devalue individual human beings in favor of statism right here in the United States, when the results of statism are clear to see from such places as China, Germany in the first half of the 2oth century, Russia in the last half of the same, and much of the middle east and Africa. Things like the article above, tragic as they are, should at the very least serve as learning experiences, and warnings against allowing the devaluation of human life.
I agree. In the US we extend our hands to those in suffering and desperately in need of our help. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=203877
When you are a billion strong with the majority living in poverty, its not difficult to picture someone valuing life differently. BTW we are officially hitting 7 BILLION people on this planet this month.. YAY!!!
http://blog.renren.com/share/227146949/9336507909 If you can read chinese ,you can link this ,it's said the newest happening that ayi is rebuked by others and encourage on 18 bystanders ,they said that old woman just wanted to be stand-out,and a driver cellphoned to the 2-years-old 's parents, and said"we dont want to be in a jail .i will pay you 50.000 chinese yuan..it's ending,"but the parents refused. Then most chinese rebuked the old woman not the 18 bystanders.that's the cultures diffenrence.... And most chinese symapathy is on the 2-car drivers, not 2-year-old female, that's the culture diffenrece........
And in the comments below that article, someone mentioned a man who saw an injured old lady, took her to the hospital, gave her money, and made sure she got treatment. Although no one mentioned his race, I'm going to take a wild guess and say he's Chinese. Hey, what do you know! There are kind people and a-holes in every country. I didn't think that was possible.
sad....i especially cant believe the guy who saw it happen just walked by.....what's also weird to me is how they picked up the girl. The lady didnt seem concerned with being gentle and the mother could have been more careful as well. I can't imagine the way they handled her didn't contribute to her passing...
i second that. There are certain things I'd rather be ignorant about than to know what's going on. People walking by a little girl who was just hit and dying on the street is definitely one of them, although I don't resent you for posting it, I'd like to assume in the back of my head something like this would never happen.
Damn, here comes the Chicom posters trying to defend the PRC and China. This sad event is a direct result of a political system that turns people into a buch of heartless cretins. Attack from Chicom posters in 1 2 3............
It is individual vs. collective. Why would anyone want to do anything for collective at the price of individual's inconvenience? It is just the rule of every free market economy. What different in China is that they do not have religions or other covers to make that rule less dominate.
Chicom? I've critized the Chinese government many times on this board and fail to see why it's about China at all. Why would anyone make it a China issue?... well besides Glenn. This **** happens all over the world so many times, I'm surprise people are suprised actually. It sucks, but humans are capable of both great good and great evil, but most of all great complacency, simple as that. This is just off the top of my head, but here's some other famous onlookers doing nothing: A new york pizzaria beating where onlookers didn't help or called the police A bunch of teens raping another teen girl in the bay area while teen onlookers didn't call the police or helped A lady got ran over and it took 9(or so) passersby to before someone called the cops (forgot which city). All these were posted on this bbs.
