#2 TTech vs #9 OSU

I don't like that one. I think Texas would be the most deserving team in that situation, but there are a lot of voters obsessed with winning your conference, and I'd be afraid that the human voters would push a Pac 10 winning USC ahead of UT if that happened.

Take a look at the coaches poll this morning -- OU was more impressive than UT yesterday, but the margin shrinks from 73 points to 14 points, essentially a tie. The polls will correct themselves little by little each week, imo, and in the final (well, pre-B12 title game) poll will reflect UT ahead of OU, I think.

 

Damn. Tech looks impressive this year (Yarr! Capt Obvious to the rescue ). One hurdle down, one big hurdle to go in Oklahoma. I know there's a lot of naysayers for Tech to win against Oklahoma but then again there were a lot of naysayers against Texas and Oklahoma State. Who knows? It's entertaining as hell to watch though

 

I think Texas will gain ground next week if they beat Kansas (while OU is on bye), but OU will probably jump substantially if they beat #1 Tech. When Texas beat OU, they shot up the rankings; same with Tech over UT. If OU were to beat Tech, I think they'll be ranked easily as the top 1-loss team at #2 in the country behind Alabama. There's just too much of "what have you done recently" that will play into it. Florida might even be wedged between Texas and OU, making it even more difficult.

 

Don't see it happening this year for Texas, and I'm okay with that. I had pretty low expectations coming into this season(Solid 10 win season, not much more), so for us to reach #1 and have a shot to play in a BCS Bowl is awesome to me. Hell, the Sugar Bowl would be a lot shorter of a trip for me!

That said, Tech looks pretty sick. They blew out an OSU team that we struggled with, and definitely deserved their win against us. We would have won the game with better clock management, but, even then, I think we would have stolen that game, because Tech controlled the trenches for most of the game. The one thing that OU has going for them is that they will force-feed the run, something we can't really do. Tech's defense is a gimmick that can be exposed with a strong running game, which Texas doesn't really have this year.

Make the playoff system happen Barack!!!

 

I noticed that throughout the game (especially 4th quarter), Tech didn't snap the ball on offense till the play clock was under 10 seconds. Did you see that Colt McCoy and UT coaches? Sad that Tech of all teams is better at clock management than Texas.

 

Impressive win for TT, I thought OSU was going to win that. If not UT, then I'm all for TT winning it all.

LOL - you guys get lucky that a safety drops a sure fire intereception to secure the UT win, and you say that UT is done.

Yeah, right.

Tech is in control of it's own destiny, they deserve it, but winning in Norman is going to be tough, if they get that game, Tech should play in the NC game.

I have no idea how it is all going to shake out...but I will say that I think TT, UT and OU are 3 of the top 5 teams in the country and deserve to be there.

I have doubts about Alabama and Florida.....so they could very well be the 3 best teams in the land....in one conference...actually all in one half of one conference.

If I was Tech, I would be ecstatic about this year but worried crapless that Leech will leave after this year for greener pastures..

But I think Tech will lock him in hes been gradually building up the program. Techs recruiting class of 09 is looking pretty solid.I think Crabtree will do wonders in recruiting when he goes top 5 it will show that you can go to the next level in techs "system"

 

Texas Tech might be the only team in the history of college football in the top 10 to be underdogs in 4 straight games. But I say let them keep on doubting us. People say our defense is gimicky, let them but our team makes the plays it needs to, to win games. We force turnovers, we can hold the other teams to uncommon 3 and outs. The only thing I believe gimicky about our defense is that they are on the field at a higher rate because our offense scores quickly. I am 100% sure if Tech does lose to OU people will be saying, you see this is just like the old Tech teams. But this team is great, and is now starting to click on all cylinders at the right time. We are 10-0 and we are legit. So all I can say is Go Tech, Wreck Em!!!!!
