Shaun Rogers of the Lions and Matt Lehr of the Falcons both were suspended for violating the NFL's steroid policy. NEW YORK -- Defensive tackle Shaun Rogers of the Detroit Lions has been suspended four games for a violation of the NFL's steroid policy, ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports. Considered one of the league's most dominating interior linemen since being taken in the second round of the 2001 draft, the 27-year-old Rogers signed a six-year, $46 million contract extension with the Lions after the 2004 season. The deal, which runs through 2010, made Rogers the NFL's highest-paid defensive tackle at the time. Rogers has 20 tackles and three sacks during the Lions' 1-5 start. The Atlanta Falcons' top-ranked rushing offense will have to make due without a key member for the next four games. The NFL on Tuesday suspended Falcons guard Matt Lehr for violating the league's policy on anabolic steroids and related substances. Lehr is an integral part of a running game that averages 232.0 yards per game. The 6-2, 304-pounder is eligible to return to the team on Nov. 13. "Obviously, we are disappointed, but the NFL's policies are very clear that all NFL players are responsible for what goes into their bodies -- regardless of the source," Falcons coach Jim Mora Jr. said. "We have options to replace Matt over the next four weeks that we are very comfortable with and will implement." Tyson Clabo, who has not started a game in three seasons, is the backup to Lehr at left guard. Atlanta (3-2) is in third place in the NFC South.
Where's bigtexxx and his anti-UT stance when you need him. This is clearly the fault of Mack Brown and Augie Garrido.
Rogers supposedly tested positive for a weight loss substance, not steroids. Probably ephedra if I was guessing. The NFL's substance abuse policy seems kind of extreme.
