two year is way too long, i say give him another two month, if we are still below 500 then send his ass back to bay area. he will be a good p*rn actor with his mustache. I can't wait to buy his films.
2 seasons works for me. You can see who the spazzin out after 20 games folks are here though, haha. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. I actually am leaning more towards a year and a half. I think that's when a move will be made if the team is not performing at a high level.
Would you make that trade now? I think the Rockets would. I am not sure they can continue to hang onto Battier and nix deals that increases the athleticism on this team and gives the Rockets a chance at a 3rd scorer.
2 years is too long. I understand that RA isn't the one missing all of those open jumpers..but 2 years is too long to wait. If they don't hit their stride during the 2nd half of the season, something must be done.
We were 52-30 last year and probably the 4th or 5th best team in the league. As it stands now, we're about the 17th best team in the league with almost the same roster (probably better on paper). So we've dropped around 13 places in one year. Hollinger's ratings and coolstandings take strength of schedule into account and both projects 44 win season with our probability of making the post season somewhere in the 37 to 43% range. So let's not hear excuses about tough schedule. Would anyone be surprised if we don't make the post-season this year? I for one wouldn't be. I've watched every game and can honestly say we are not better than any of the nine teams ahead of us in the West. Should we fire RA? Hard to say, but given the existing performance, I'd say his job is pretty shaky. Certainly, if we don't show improvement in the next few weeks, I'd say we need a major shake up.
Blastaway- Well writen and easy to read- agreed with most of what you said but I think Morey made several mistakes in his selections, also JVG and CD must take the blame for Battier/Gay, they made a major blunder in their decissions. Also Les must bear all as he has enabled all of this to go on.
This isn't football. It shouldn't take this long to "learn" an offense. 1690 minutes. They've played 1690 game minutes (including the preseason). That's not counting practice. I could learn to play the piano faster than that.
When you judge an experienced proven NBA coach after just 28 games, you've got to have your head checked. I could care less if the rockets won 65+ games (ala Dallas) in the regular season, if they can't get passed the 1st round then whats the point. Morey has already said that they have 3 goals that they want to achieve, maintain the defense from last season, improve the offense and do what JVG couldn't do in 4 seasons (get passed the 1st round of the playoffs). That stuff takes time, they have the horses to go on big runs with the talent they have, I won't pass judgement on Adelman until the playoffs roll around.
2 seasons??? we have already been waiting for soooooo many! anyways tmac doesnt have 2 seasons left in his tank. if u r gonna wait 2 seasons our team will ned to make some dramatic changes right now.
I give him the season. If the Rockets miss the playoffs and don't show significant improvement toward the end of the season, I'd fire him and chalk it up to lessons learned. If they do make the playoffs or start to put something together toward the end, then we can talk about another season or two. I'm very disappointed so far, but if I see progress, I'll be willing to be patient.
the fact of the matter is that t-mac and yao ming just don't have it. the common denominator is them. people expects us to be world beaters because we added mike james, francis, and scola with the first two being complete trash so far. i could care less about making the playoffs if we aren't going to be a serious contender. i've always viewed going to playoffs just lose in the early rounds a complete waste of time. Not good enough to win the championship and too good to get a good player from the draft so you are essentially stuck in mediocrity for years unless major changes or made. people say that you should be able to win with the players you inherit yet Van gundy change us into the houston knicks when he first got here but know you won't accept adleman to get players for his style i just don't really understand the logic of you guys. jeff had time so adleman should have time also especially considering his credentials as winning i do feel the the whole win now mode by mamgemnt completly screwed us as we were never that close to contenteding with the teams ahead of us being so good we could really use gay. every elite team has 3 big players we have two soft ones and role players just not good enough.
Don't blame the fans for having high expectations. After all, the Rocket's new slogan is "it's time", not "give us two seasons".
Two seasons??? HELL no. I think it's too early to be blaming Adelman, but I'll give him until February before I start pointing fingers in his direction. I agree, though, that we would look a lot better right now if we could hit open jumpers.
At the beginning of last pre-season the Rockets were coasting until Yao came back then they slumped. Battier being the worst affected. Suddenly there was talk of chemistry issues. Without Yao they were a completely different team not necessarily better. Anyway reg season records are meaningless when they can't even go past the first round of the playoffs. Rockets have been marginally better than the Grizzlies in that regard.
I agree with you 100 percent ... everyone keeps talkin bout how many wins we had in the regular season last year and its meaningless... the warriors were 42-40 only two games above .500 and knocked out a number one seeded Dallas team... i think as long as we are in the playoff picture were ok even if it means facing the spurs in the first round ... sooner or later your gonna have to beat the best to be the best ....
