LOL again. Just because Canberra minister said there was contact, and speculated on the rest doesn't make the reporting unbiased. The call for support website is there, bbc reported. There's nothing covert about that.

Covert intimidation campaigns? does he aussie say that? where's the quote? Play by the rules? Well, why don't Aussie government file a formal diplomatic complain if they think the rules are broken? For that matter, why didn't the US government when the torch was at SF? There is none.

Then, again, we all know what kind of guy you are. So, I'm not surprised, nor do I care what you say.

LOL - you know what kind of guy I am? Please tell me, you will save me years of therapy - i find this fascinating considering that you don't know me.

Anyway - yes the chinese governments involvemnt in staging nationalist political rallies in foreign territory is most definitely covert, or at least not overt (clumsily so in this instance) - and the tactic of intimidation by Chinese (using traditional chinese mobbing tactics! Good old chinese nationalists, not a lot creativity, but a lot of . . .welll. . . . them. ) is pretty much the same as what we always see. Let's get a bunch of us and yell repeatedly at anybody who dares deviate from our indoctrination - yeah this is nothing new.

Who knows how the Australian embassy has handled this - who cares. If I were them I wouldn't really care that much about Chinese embassies arranging "spontaneous" bus tours - though I always enjoy it when clumsy Chinese nationalism is on display - witness the previous 60 pages of this thread.

Anyway, I anxiously await your not-caring response. Chinese are about the worst people in the world at "not caring" when it comes to wounded national pride - once again, see this thread. So I can't wait to hear you chime in- the game is now at halftime so go for it, my little eastern freudianfriend!

Nice speculations here Samfisher, since I actually live in Australia I can tell you exactly what happened. The buses sent down were organised by student societies who felt strongly about the OLYMPIC FLAME, societies that want to watch this historical moment. I know this how? BECAUSE ITS ADVERTISED HERE IN THE UNIVERSITY..by STUDENT SOCIEITES, NOT THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

guess what samfisher, take you speculations somewhere else, I am done talking to someone who nitpicks in his argument

PS, My friends had to PAY FOR THE TRIP DOWN to Canberra, so it was NOT FUNDED by no chinese embassy

how does it feel to be proved wrong and wrong OVER AND OVER Again, I think you should go to a mirror and have a good look at yourself.

Replace A1, A2, A3 with SamFisher, and we got another anti-China fundamentalist. Congratulations! ;)

A1: So what? The American Natives are in the past! We now are one of the countries that best practice human rights!

    P: Remember IRAQ? Hypocrite!

A2: So what? We can’t criticize you just because we claim war on IRAQ? You Chinese can criticize us too.

A3: I am against US government too. But I have freedom of speech to against Bush and you don’t.

P: It takes time to solve problem and make changes. China is making progress toward democracy. Here is some proof…

A2: You are so brainwashed. You government is pure evil and you still think it can become good.

A3: You government is evil, it…, it…, it…, it… So whatever happened in Tibet is not important, you should overthrow your government!

A1: Commies sell junks to us! Take our jobs away! Own our debts! They are polluters! Free Tibet! Free China!

Usually at this stage, pro-China people withdraw. Some anti-China people are convinced during the process. For those who can not be convinced even with mounted evidence, I call them anti-China fundamentalists. Because in the end, it’s NEVER about the benefit/human rights of Chinese, it’s simply hooraying everything against China, denouncing everything in China and ignoring voices from China. Amid all these debates, there is one question I always want to ask: Do you REALLY know or care what Chinese or Chinese Tibetans want when you shout ‘free Tibet’ or ‘free China’?

Yes - which is why the Chinese government works so hard to convince the world otherwise.

I just had a discussion with a Japanese Free-Tibet supporter. It's amazing that he didn't know the relationship between Dalai Lama and Shoko Asahara (麻原 彰晃, Asahara Shōkō ), who masterminded the 1995 Sarin gas attack on the Tokyo subway.

For informative purpose, I post some useful links if you haven't heard of it.
