Oh and Bush wont be able to use the " low expectations" thing like he did with al gore in 2000. Remember that article where it said he loved when people would call him dumb, because if he strung two sentences together in the debate, theyll think he's a genius? Well I think people will expect more from their President this time around.
http://www.surveyusa.com/currentelectionpolls.html The latest polls from Survey USA, published today, have some potentially good news for Edwards and Clark. Edwards looks to be pulling away in South Carolina and looks to be making a play for Oklahoma. He's also pulling into a stronger position in Missouri, though Kerry still leads easily there. Clark, meanwhile, holds his lead in OK (barely) and is in range to pull off a possible update in AZ. South Carolina: Edwards 34 Kerry 17 Clark 16 Sharpton 12 Dean 9 Lieberman 4 Oklahoma: Clark 29 Edwards 27 Kerry 26 Dean 7 Arizona: Kerry 34 Clark 28 Dean 18 Lieberman 7 Edwards 7 Missouri: Kerry 44 Edwards 20 Dean 15 Clark 6 Delaware: Kerry 42 Dean 12 Edwards 11 Lieberman 10 Sharpton 9 Clark 9 Best situation for Clark: Win Oklahoma and Arizona. Pass Kerry for second in SC. Best situation for Edwards: Win SC (must have) and Oklahoma. Move into strong second in Missouri and Delaware. If Kerry loses SC, OK and AZ, this race might not be over yet. Incidentally, I hope it's not.
batman, interesting stuff on the dean campaign here. an excerpt: ThroughMonday, thousands of grassroots supporters continue restocking the Dean campaign with cash. As I reported here recently, in the 72 hours after New Hampshire more than 10,000 supporters contributed almost $70 each—for a total of $680,000 in three days. This shows the power of the large numbers of people that can easily touch the campaign through the web. I don’t know what will happen next, but I can say that numbers suggest that the grassroots can completely reload the campaign with cash if they want to.

You lawyers always stick together, huh? Actually, as I may have posted many moons ago, I'm a big Edwards fan. He's a close friend of one of my close friends in NC. I haven't met Edwards, but I trust the first-hand stories I've heard of his character and his motivation.
the fact he's a lawyer really doesn't mean much to me...most of the lawyers i know, i would never vote for! but i like the guy, from what i've seen. i'm particularly persuaded to the idea of child health care to make sure that's taken care of. something about him resonates with me. maybe 'cause he's from the south??? i'm not sure. that worked for clinton when i was 18! one of my closest friends is a youth pastor at my church...he comes from a social worker background from boulder, colorado and typically identifies himself as a moderate liberal...he's all about edwards. says he's the only candidate on either side of the aisle he'd be excited to vote for.
More exit polls (can't verify the validity of this -- but it was e-mailed to me by someone I trust): Edison Group (for: FoxNews, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, AP) 2 PM EST ARIZONA Kerry - 44 Clark - 26 Edwards - 8 Lieberman - 5 SOUTH CAROLINA Edwards - 44 Kerry - 30 Sharpton - 10 Clark - 8 Dean - 6 Lieberman - 3 OKLAHOMA Edwards - 32 Kerry - 30 Clark - 28 Lieberman - 6 Dean - 3 MISSOURI Kerry - 53 Edwards- 23 Dean - 10 Gephardt - 4 Lieberman - 3 Sharpton - 2 Clark - 2 DELAWARE Kerry - 47 Dean - 15 Lieberman - 12 Edwards - 11 Clark - 9 Shaprton - 6
Wow. Thanks, khan. Goodbye Lieberman, hello Edwards. The big story is Edwards. The second big story is what Clark does next. If he drops out, the next debate will be Kerry, Edwards, Dean, Sharpton, Kucinich. That would be a fun debate.
Hey those polls don't have Kucinich's numbers!!! Next debate should only have candidates with delegates: Kerry, Edwards, and Dean.
Edwards, Clark Hope to Slow Surging Kerry Feb 3, 4:52 PM (ET) By RON FOURNIER ... In Oklahoma, Kerry and Edwards were fighting for first against Clark, who identified the state as his best hope. Clark's supporters were braced for a bad night. "I think the general is about to meet Sitting Bull," said David Paterson, Senate Minority Leader of the New York legislature and a Clark backer. At Clark's Oklahoma City headquarters, the candidate's 34-year-old son, Wesley Clark Jr., told reporters he wanted his father to quit the race if he did not win Oklahoma. "It's really been disillusioning. You go out and see the way politics really works. It is a dirty business filled with a lot of people pretending to be a lot of things they are not," Clark's son said. ...
I guess after tonight the field will be narrowed further. I'm sure several of you are boo-hooing that your boy Clark got massacred. I think his unbelievable gaffes and questions about why he was let go early from his final command finally caught up to him.
it's a lot like basketball- for instance, Steve Francis pretends he's a point guard and he's not...what a bummer, my TV just died! no instant fox news analysis tonight...
If Edwards wins two states tonight, it's a HUGE story. Especially since his argument that he can appeal in the South and the others can't will have some hard evidence. That could prolong the nomination fight. I'm just not sure if Edwards will get the boost in fundraising he needs at this point --even with two victories tonight. We'll see. It's interesting -- I wrote Edwars off MONTHS ago.
CBS reports Edwards has won SC by a comfortable margin. Kerry second. Everyone else bunched up low -- Sharpton not a factor. That says to me Edwards did well with the black vote. Good news for him.
I read somewhere that the SC Dem primary electorate was expected to be up to half black. If that's true, then it's interesting to see Edwards doing well among that constituency. I think that Edwards needed a big win in SC. A squeaker wouldn't have done it for him.
