It's an all-star game though. The fact that this will be news tomorrow is comical. And Lebron is even more of an idiot for basically feeding into Sagers dumb questions at the end of the game. Should have just said it's an All-Star game it doesn't matter. Instead he storms to the bench like this game really matters.
The cross court pass TO was the key. Lebron could have easily taken that to the basket with 5 seconds left. There is just something missing mentally with him when the game is on the line. That is the last hurdle he must get over to be considered for the GOAT conversation.
Nope, the last hurdle would be the 7th championship. Else nobody will ever consider putting him in the conversation with MJ (especially since he bolted to Miami to team up with 2 stars).
Agreed. It was drawn up well, Deron Williams had been shooting the ball well, and he got a good look. He just missed.
Lebron is just so scared to lose and let people down. At some point he just needs to say f%^& it and take those shots. You should be willing to take that shot in an all star game.
Let's just stop. Nobody is going to come close to MJ for GOAT consideration. MJ had 5 regular season MVPs, 6 final MVPs, a DPOY, along with 6 rings. It's laughable that Kobe is even in the discussion when his individual accolades aren't even close. Lebron winning 7 rings wouldn't come close b/c he has to get 3 more MVPs, be FMVPs in all of the championships he's in, get DPOY... And remember, MJ never lost in the Finals. Kobe has lost twice; and LBJ hasn't shown up in his Finals.
That is true, I think we can all agree if Lin was in the game, he would've handled the business. They probably would've lal huddled up ebfore the game, and decide to give him the all star trophy, mvp, and 10k from each player so that he doesn't embarrass them.
Absolutely. Kevin Durant should call Jeremy Lin now to thank him for not bothering to show up for the ASG because otherwise Kevin would have zero chance of sniffing that MVP award.
Yea that would have be funny but he has the worst reaction to a game like this. Roger Goodell wishes NFL players had this attitude about the Pro Bowl.
that was also disappointing. i wanted to see a changing of the guard so to speak. a "forget kobe, i've been the man on this team tonight, give me the damn ball" moment. instead, he just let kobe force up his terrible shots. and as much as i defend lebron (funny only his heroics made it possible for him to look bad), he has to take that last 3. letting deron have the shot was fine, deron was wide open. but lebron has to take that last one. the crazy thing is there wasn't even really any downside. no one's going to say "oh you choked" if you miss a 28 foot 3 on a scramble at the end of the game (well, he's lebron so a few people might) and if you make it you're a friggin' hero. 7-9 on 3's and the game-winner at the buzzer? it couldn't get any better. i mean if it was just me in a pickup game i would've taken the shot if i was that on. in fact i'd be devastated if it somehow worked out that i didn't get the shot. i really think kobe wanted lebron to shoot it, even if he made it. i think he wanted lebron to want to shoot it. i can't (but really can) believe he didn't shoot it. and once more "the best closer in the game" will have his moments in the clutch where he sucked forgotten and we'll pretend that the successes have been far greater than the failures and that every failure is a surprise. those 2 shots kobe forced and got blocked were just terrible. dwade showed something on that D, though. would have been nice if he catches that easy layup for the lead.
for a few of the guys on each team, i think it actually does, because they just like to compete. guys like dwight and dirk and rondo and pierce and some others treat it like a joke, but i don't think some of the others like kobe and lebron just turn it off. i mean 2 straight years lebron has tried to play along with the east getting destroyed and then 2 straight years he basically went crazy and got them back in it in the 2nd half. and kobe has come out firing the last 2 years. it certainly seems to matter to some of them. i feel like chris paul probably wants to explode trying to play in such a low intensity level game for the first 42 minutes.
Kobe didn't choke, he hit a jumper, he got the next short but he forced double team and Westbrook was wide open for a putback, we've seen Gasol and Artest did that in the past and they had that for a reason. Only the last one was bad, but it wasn't a play drawn up for him. I don't know why CP3 dribbled 16 seconds before passing to him on the top of the key. Kobe's the guy that shoulders the pressure, he doesn't win it every time, but he can take the blame if he loses, he's not a baby like LeChoke.
