I'm with Raven. If Washington's looking to accumulate high picks, the Rockets' would be a good one for them to acquire. At this rate, we're sitting on a top-5 pick. I wonder what we could net from the Wizards with that. Haywood + ??? Something else in a 3-way? About Taylor, I really believe that Mo Taylor's a good guy and has a good heart with regard to the game. He was all fired up before the injury. I think he'll try hard to give the staff and his teammates want they want from him, unlike Cato. However, both sides are (hopefully) aware of his limitations. He can't board, so Rudy, et al won't ask him to pull down double-digit rebounds, but there's no reason he can't body up on guys and play physical. It's all about will. If he can bang a bit without getting into foul trouble, I think Mo will do it if Rudy and Steve sit down with him at different times and say, "Mo, we're going to sic the other team's biggest guy on you regularly. You make him work his @$$ off for his buckets inside."
ScarFace, I don't necessarily think that Mo T is better then KT, but I believe that the ROCKETS think that. If they were so satisfied with KT, why did they bring in 2 PF in Taylor and Griffin in back to back years? DaDakota
Interesting you mention the Clippers and then the Knicks because I was talking b-ball with some suits at work and one of them threw out a deal involving Odom and Spreewell. I have no idea where the guy got this from.
I guess since McGrady and Kobe got stronger and put on weight, they're not as quick or explosive. Its important that a player like Griffin put on functional weight and strength. Basketball players need flexibilty as well as strength, they don't really need to be hulks. Griffin could put on 15-20 lbs because of his slender frame and not lose any quickness. If he did put it on, it would be hard to even see. His timing is what makes him a good rebounder /shot blocker, not because he is light in the ass.
Well when we brought in Taylor we thought we were getting a guy who might blossom into a Webber type player. He had all the tools and what not to be a dominant force in the league for years to come (and still does) plus we signed him to a one year deal for the min. We had nothing to lose everything to gain. Griffin I really feel was brought in as a 3-4-5 type player with Rudy envisioning him as Walts replacement and eventually filling into the 4/5 role much like KG did. However the monkey wrench was the Maurice Taylor injury and all planned rotations got thrown out the window. Another factor that we are missing is the rapid improvement in Kenny’s' game. Lets not forget that this will be only his 3rd season. His rookie year he showed signs of being a good player but disappeared late in the season. He also showed an uncanny knack to travel 99.9% of the time. His second year he improved a lot but was not even close to the player he has become. I don't know about you guys but I feel that Kenny will be in this league for a LONG LONG time if he continues to improve like this. I see him as a better Chris Gattling without the attitude problems. I think if we are to be successful I think we need to have more problems like the one we will be facing when Mo comes back and that is an abundance of frontcourt players. Just look at Portland from the 90's on through they always had 4-5 power-forwards that could have been starters on other teams. Is it just me or does anyone else like seeing Cato pissed off and being a dirty player like he was in the Pacers game? **** if he's gonna suck he might as well intimidate some guys in the process. He should have a mindset where he shouldn't care about fouling out. He should just get his moneys worth for every foul.
Okay, so I recognize the sarcasm. Here's an unsarcastic answer. I know this sounds like a hedge, but let me give you a few factors when athletes attempt to gain weight. 1. Percentage of weight gained in ratio to starting weight. 2, Age of athlete's skeletal structure - ability to gain, distribute and carry the weight gained. 3. Ability to gain meaningful weight. 4. Ability to recognize and compensation for lost abilities. It is not easy to simply gain meaningful weight. That is why, we have normal, intelligent, muscular, quick, skillful athletes resorting to taking anabolic steriods to gain weight in areas that they cannot sufficiently improve "naturally". Did you really think all these guys had to do was eat a bunch of extra **** and lift weights to build muscle bulk? At a late pubescent/early adult age, it is still possible but very very difficult to gain weight. Metobolic requirements at this stage of life are in high gear and may remain that way for a "slender framed person" for a long time. Ask Ralph Sampson what lengths he took to gain some weight to his skinny ass 6' 11" to 7' frame over the first eight years of his career. At a late pubescent/early adult age it is possible to grow more height, thus impairing the distribution or desired firming of the present muscles mass. Chances are if nutritional intake was increased and weight training was intensified, Griffin may peak at about 10-12 lbs before he started to gain ... yes gain ... long bone growth. Maybe not much, but certainly he is a good candidate to gain another inch or so within the next two years. This would eventually make him actually lose or maintain his present height to weight ratio. Thus we have defeated the purpose of bulking (increasing weight to height ratio) him up. In my estimnation, griffin could gain as much as 15 pounds without appreciable loss of skill. Then as he grew naturally he could gain more, and maintain his desired ratio. But to do 15-20 lbs right of the bat, well it may,I say may, make his skill drop off. The other, and this is last thing.... I swear ... is that speed and any skill which requires speed, is indeed impaired with an increase in weight. The measure of that impairment or the ability to overcome or compensate for that impairment is dependent largely on the amount of weight gained, age of recipient, proportionated distribution, changes in height, time interval for the weight gain, the type of skeletal frame and finally the stress that is gradually exerted upon that skeletal frame(weight gain over time gained plus increase in structural height). In short, comparing Kobe or McGrady with EG is like not recognizing why an eigthy pound dwarf isn't as graceful in ballet as Sonja Kornikov (with appologies to my little people friends). That's my sarcasm.
Hey, jshabang, did you used to be a regular on clutchcity.com? I think I remember that name from somewhere.
Bingo!!!!!!! How did you know that?????? Are you stalking me?????? I kind of like it though!!!!!!!!!!! Whatever happen to that board anyway???????
Well...actually, I used to post there every day. I used my first name Desmond as my moniker and was a serious rookie poster...I apologized whenever I thought I did something wrong...I felt sad when somebody made fun of what I said...I was like a newbie but had about 100 posts. hehe. Those were some fun threads. What was that 3, 4 years ago? I was about 14 at the time. I just remember that name. I ain't stalking you, my brotha!
