I do. They already tried to make a move for him at the deadline. Spurs wouldn't want Horford but I can see them being attracted to a player like Hayward. If not, they can offer Tatum, Rozier, Morris, fillers and a bunch of their stockpiled picks. Irving Brown Hayward Leonard Horford would easily win the championship over Golden State.
This is a bummer man. West vs. East is just a joke. Adam Silver not doing anything about it is an even bigger joke.
I think it's all about what the Spurs want to do, i think they should rebuild, but who knows...if they want to stay competitive they might prefer a trade with the Clippers to get back Harris, DeAndre while dumping a couple of meh contracts like Mills and Pau to try to sign someone in free agency...not sure who though lol. If they go for a rebuild the Lakers can give them much better assets.
the max? If he gets only the max then the Spurs have ZERO hope. It's either the supermax, or there's no further discussion. He can get the max from other big market or California teams like the Knicks or Clippers. The Spurs though will be incredibly reckless and foolish to risk it.
That’s fair, but if you factor in fit you also have to factor in the fact that they all play the same position, and none of the 3 are particularly great shooters. What would the lineup look like? PG at the 2, Kawhi at the 3 and Lebron at the 4? There’s no question that they can make it work, but I think it’d be generally more attractive, that if you’re a natural 3, to play with 2 pass first guards. Who knows, either way LA has a huge edge on us in the hometown and franchise success factor. If LBJ and Kawhi really want to go to LA, I think they have the assets to make it work. Hope Morey is exploring other options. Also the West/East disparity would be monumentally worse.
The situation with Paul George was pretty unique. He wanted to go to a team that could afford to both $$ wise and time wise just wait one year and sign him. That's not really the case anymore. If Kawhi wants to go to LAL, he probably has to get there now. Which gives him less leverage in one sense... BUT gives him more to get here exactly because LAL if they really want him have to offer assets. Last year, the Lakers just said f'it, we ain't offering ****. Meanwhile, Kawhi and his peeps can CLEARLY tell everyone else, happy to play another year here, but whether LAL has space next year or not, we ain't staying. So then you say... is there an OKC out there that just has to risk a move and cross their fingers? For one... probably less this year than last just because everyone sees what happened with OKC. What a freaking disaster of a move, in retrospect. Here OKC is stuck with a leaving PG that they might get NOTHING for, a season that was a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT, Russ both with his value lowered AND on a supermax, and Melo getting paid $28 million. In the "maybe we should risk it!" category, OKC is one heck of a case study saying don't. Relative to Kyrie and Boston... Boston wasn't on his list, but was the exact type of team on his list. So... let's consider Kawhi. Sounds like, for whatever reason, he wants a major market. Sounds like he prefers California. So I could see NYK swooping in an actually offering Porzingis (personally, ESPECIALLY with the injury, I don't think he's a #1 option franchise player anyway). But it doesn't seem reasonable that there will be a big market for Kawhi... unless he is open to various squads
Pretty much. I think him going to Boston is just as damaging as him going to LA. People are underestimating Boston.
Errr Let's clarify smth. When Ainge so called tried to trade for Kawhi it's amost certain his offer was incredibly lowball to the point of insulting. Just because his FO leaked this on purpose to make them look good, doesn't mean that it's a serious respectable offer.
It doesn't mean that they wouldn't have serious interest in bringing him in. He's the best defensive player in the league. If Boston is going to win the title, they're going to have to go through LeBron, Durant, Harden and maybe a couple other elite wing players. That's where Kawhi comes in. They have the pieces to make it happen. They'd be foolish not to try and make it work.
Forget about him wanting to go somewhere else. He was injured... AGAIN. I mean surely people realize this about Kyrie now. It's like people on this board with blinders to CP3's injury history. Kyrie... out a whole year in college. Out 2 of the last 4 playoffs when it mattered. Availability is just as if not more important than capability. Otherwise you're just paying someone to rehab.
I feel you but, well I think you might be getting too caught up in this whole position thing. Postions in basketball are becoming more and more irrelevant as time goes on. Lebron really is a primary playmaker for any team hes's on so .....ugh i hate this.
