I didn't catch that either. Still, as Dr of Dunk opined, it's freakin' ironic.

Some silver lining for the Lakers getting KCP:

They have filled their roster with garbage low end players after that.

They can’t sign anyone worth a damn unless they move Deng.

And nobody will want to help them now.

Didn’t say it was a smart strategy. It just seems that’s the direction they are taking.

I completely agree with you. LeBron made his bed, now he has to sleep in it. I hope he enjoys the impact to his legacy when he’s getting knocked out early in the playoffs every year. If he wasn’t interested in the Rockets, he should’ve at least gone to Philadelphia. They could’ve had a roster with himself, Kawhi and Embiid, or himself, Simmons, Kawhi and Embiid. He clearly wasn’t in “championship” mode anymore.

I don't see it that way at all. Sure Lakers will be lucky to make it to the 7th or 8th seed next season, but what about Lebron second yr with Lakers???

Lakers could still sign another max player like Kawhi or Klay. LeBron plus Kawhi could post an issue against any team in the west.

Don't forget Kawhi almost took the GSW down if it wasn't due to the injury. At least Lakers with Kawhi and Lebron would be neck to neck with us vs GSW.

Omg. He didn't take less. It's the max Lakers can offer to Lebron.

Could being the operative word. Everyone and their brother had Paul George in Lakers’ purple and gold next season. How did that work out?

Let’s say Kawhi gets traded to Philadelphia or Boston. You really think it’s a lock that he’s going to leave either of those rosters to join LeBron in Los Angeles? I don’t.

As for Klay Thompson, the Warriors aren’t going to jerk him around when he hits free agency, and it’s certainly no lock that he leaves an all-time great team to join LeBron’s Lakers.

LeBron just took a huge, unnecessary gamble in his quest to win championships. It could pay off, or blow up in his face. If he would’ve signed in Philadelphia, he could’ve easily had a team this year featuring himself, Kawhi, Embiid, Saric and Fultz, or Kawhi, Simmons, himself and Embiid. With the Rockets, he would’ve been on a team that pushed the Warriors to 7 games, has the reigning MVP, a top 15 player in Chris Paul, and a rising star in Capela.

Nene 2.0 without the D skills. High energy athletically gifted player. Fareid tried to copy this. Nene was ahead of his time before his body broke down. He was mired in that last part of 70-90s seven footer post dominance. His athleticism and strength combined with skill at a lower height gave him immense versatility as a PNR and low post option with good defensive range for rim protection. As he aged everyone just got far more athletic to where switching became much more difficult as players now gravitate to really one type. In the 80s and 90s playing NBA Live if I put together a team of MJ, Pippen, Rodman, Harper, and Kukoc I had a champion but you said it was because of MJ but the more accurate team makeup was Rockets, Lakers, Celtics, Pistons, Knicks, Pacers, Hornets. If I put that team together now that is the goal ignoring the names. It was a team of the future prototype. Multiple ball handlers, multiple wing players with outside shooting ability, versatile defenders that switch frequently, reliable rim protection, varied offense with sideline triangle, post up, pnr, iso, no traditional dominant big postup.

Our next targets outside of MLE needs to be Butler or Porter but we don't have the assets so we have to look at what we can do with Ryno and pieces in trade. We cannot let Gordon go in trade now because of what we lost and what we need to get in return.

LBJ's legacy is well established, solidly embedded.

Just as a reminder, or for info, Klay's dad, a Lakes broadcaster, earlier in KT's career, was quite vocal about him becoming a Laker. Albeit, that has some years on it but it is out there.
