Only thing about this (I once doubted too)...is that Clutch specifically gave him credit on having the Joe Johnson info waaaaaayyyyyy before he was ever bought out.
I had this thought to until someone pointed out the nature of the business. Would you only have him tell you things happening the day of, but it's guaranteed, or that parties have interest weeks beforehand though there are no guarantees? (unless specifically stated) Well I'll take the latter. I prefer to know who we are looking into as opposed to breaking news hours ahead of learning what was going to happen anyways.
Maybe that’s on you for taking rumors as facts. I don’t know how many times the guy has to say he’s just providing info he hears behind the scenes.
I'll say that he's wrong more times than he's right, but he's proven enough (and been vouched for by Clutch a few years ago) to the point where we should encourage him to share what he's hearing regardless. Cyber doesn't offer a paid newsletter like the Constitutional Scholar/NBA Insider that is Jopat/Hollic mind you, but he's the best insider we got around here the past few years. What he says might happen doesn't happen that often, but its more than interesting to know the rumors and conversations he's hearing even if its 3 or 4 degrees from the source of the info.
Methinks a 49 year-old big isn't our answer. After all these years, anytime Pau goes to the basket he makes that barking yell as if someone just crippled his foot with a rifle butt. "Do you still want Pau?" "Kung pao, maybe. Pau Gasol? Let me think for a minute...." (click) "That's for taking my GM of the year when I went out and got Dwight. Ninth place? Yeah, you keep Kung Pau Gasol."
I'd consider KPG + Danny Green (if opted in @$10m) for Ryno. Of course, I am a believer that DG is a solid rotational wing in MD'A's America.
I wonder if a CP3 deal will have to be max 3 years? Remember Ne's contract dispute about turning some specific age in the 4th year so they had to amend the contract to 3 years? I'm curious if CP runs into the same issue?
Butler would be amazing here. He'd be a huge upgrade over Ariza. Imagine him shooting those 12 shots in Game 7 instead of Trevor. Even Scott Foster wouldn't have been able to stop the Rockets. As for what we'd give up, Anderson would have nothing to do with that deal. It would be EG and probably Nene. Those two should be enough to make the numbers work. If not, throw in Onuaku. And if the T'Wolves demand a pick, so be it. That's not gutting the team. We would need to replace EG and maybe that's where Evans comes in. Ariza, if resigned, moves to the bench. And then we see if Luc and Green will come back for inexpensive deals. Lastly, we need a new backup center. But those are a dime a dozen. So we'd have a starting lineup of: Capela Tucker Butler Harden Paul And a bench of: Ariza Luc Green Whoever replaces EG(Evans?) Whoever replaces Nene Another backup PG for CP3 insurance That's a pretty damn good roster. It would be pricey if Ryno's contract can't be dumped. But that's a team that could very well top the Warriors if healthy. I think Tilman opens his wallet for that.
Not to mention that probably only 10% or less of the things that are actually discussed, do in fact materialize. Saying he's wrong or right is a bit of a misnomer, look at him as the proverbial "fly on the wall."
If they have no intention of resigning him next summer(due to financial restraints) or fear that he'll bolt(perhaps because Thibs runs his starters into the ground or they look like they'll flame out in Round 1 again), they'll wanna get something for him. Gordon would provide a lot of the same production at 2/3 the cost and he's signed for one additional season.
I wish I was as not good at basketball as Andrew Wiggins is. ps @Deckard I saw Deckard 2049 last night. Not bad. I was entertained and confused about the plot at the same time!
